The wii has been dead for over a year now....

What do you mean by dead?

Last year alone saw some great releases: TvsC, Monster Hunter Tri, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Goldeneye 007, Metroid: Other M, Red Steel 2, Sin and Punishment 2, No More Heroes 2 and and Super Mario Galaxy 2. Aswell as the usual multiplats, including COD: Black Ops.

If you mean it's decreased in polularity amongst "harcore gamers", then sure that's a fair point. But of course people owning all 3 consoles are naturally going to choose the HD version of multiplats over the Wii version. But the Wii has plenty of great exclusives that still measure up in terms of pure gameplay.

EA are just upset that they're not squeezing DLC revenue out of Wii owners aswell as the fact that there are some people out there who prefer gameplay over graphics, quality over quantity, and are capable of resisting their hype machine.

Yes the Wii is in a lull currently release-wise but it intentonally blew it's load last year in prepartion for the 3DS launch. Wii players still have plenty to be getting on with in the meantime, and a lot to look forward too. I'm expecting plenty of announcements and surprises at E3 regarding new Wii titles, perhaps even the standardisation of Motion Plus on the back of Zelda, but not a new home console, not yet.

There just seemed to be a general attitude outside of nintendo that publishers wanted it to fail.

Possibly because it's the hardest of the four (including pc) to do cross platform on. If they made a more cross platform able console then publishers might give it the same love. But that would also mean to us that it's a samey console with the added bonus of Nintendo exclusives; and the drawback of shitty online.

Really hope they don't do a "Wii HD" unless it really surpasses the other consoles, otherwise it'll be a bit redundant; but other than that it's really quite hard to guess what they'll do.

If they do announce something I think it'll be a tiny teaser, or just a codename. Not sure they'd want to undermine the 3DS. They haven't ever announced a home console right after releasing a new generation handheld.

I think the Wii might have been criminally neglected by the 3rd parties, but there are still many gems around, some low-profile and some more widely known.

I think this would be a good time for the press (ahem, EG), to do an article about these gems, make them more visible to us grumpy gamers, and in the process perhaps get some more people to give these titles some of the love they deserve.
