Got a new album out called Angles, been 5 years since the last one, can hear it here Angles Not as good as Is This It or Room On Fire but probably a better overall than the last one, doubt they will ever top ITI, that album was awesome. Any fans here? |

Registered 11 years agoIs This It is amazing, but I haven't bothered with their other albums. I quite liked the Julian Casablancas solo album though, so might give this a whirl at some point. -

And I hate you for saying that.gif)
But seriously I never knew why they got classed as a hipster band, their's a lot worse so called "hipster" bands out there. -

Are they actually headlining Reading/Leeds? My friends trying to get me to go because he say they're certain to play? -

Registered 13 years agoWell it's not nailed on but I'd say there's a 90% chance. My Chemical Romance are apparently likely to play which has me considering ripping up my ticket. -

Registered 15 years agoLast album was absolutely shite. Is this it is still great in a 'ripping off the stooges for the next generation' way. Depressing that they never fulfilled that early potential. -

It's been put online on their site to stream but the actual CD is out on Monday. -

Registered 15 years agoIm a fan and lived Is This It and Room On Fire. Last album was poor though. Had about 3 good songs on it but the rest were very forgettable. Can't imagine the new album could be any worse. Have been looking forward to it for a while now. -

Registered 15 years agoLiked their first album for a few months when it first came out and even got into their second too.
However, haven't listened to them since I went to see them live (they were bloody awful). -

Registered 15 years agoThat's what I heard before I went, but I just found the gig really boring. They just looked like they were going through the numbers, and the singer sounded like absolute arse.
This was a fair few years ago, so I've no idea if they've improved or anything. -

They are much better now. Saw them at Rockness last year and they were great. The lead singer has stopped drinking now so can sing much better and not stumbling all over the place like a few years ago.
Still sounded pretty great live when they first came out Classic Letterman performance \o/ at Julian falling down at end. -
thanks for the heads up! will have to buy this tomorrow.
i loved their last album so i must be an odd fan. ize of the world is fantastic, the solo sounds awesome.
my favourite album is definitely room on fire though, i've listened to it far too many times.
not too fussed about the first album really.
at last year's isle of wight they were really good. could have been the fact that i had been drinking 24/7 but they sounded excellent to me. -
There's no strokes thread? Fuck me!
I saw them at the last bearable V Festival and they were fucking magic, my only issue is they're a bit standard and don't change much, which bores me
I'd love to hear further impressions of their new album. -

Registered 13 years agoYeah I was suprised there was no thread too when I searched for them a few weeks back.
I was going to create one but after reading the "what are you listening to know" thread I though i'd get shot down on the basis of more than 5 people have heard of them

Registered 16 years agoI actually quite liked First Impressions of Earth, thought it was much better than Room on Fire. Saw them live in 2002 and they were great, even if the gig was a bit short due to it being on the back of Is This It. Looking forward to the new album.

The Strokes got back to say they don't mind, as you're a tedious little shit. -
They peaked with Hard to Explain.
