I guess it could also be Gwen, but I can't really see her running through a field after Rosie like we saw at the start of the first episode. |

Registered 13 years agowhat what? Have they started showing the second series on BBC? Not the remake, the original foreign one. If not, when, bastards. -

Registered 16 years agoI'm partly of the opinion it will turn out to be someone else but really, at the end of the day, when you consider there are three story strands and only one of them had no immediate direct link to the murder I think it's possible the killer was hidden in plain view. -

Registered 14 years agoSpoilers anyone? I've only seen the first episode of the remake, but having seen the original already on BBC4, I'm not in a hurry to catch up with the US pace of the remake; so I'm waiting for the Channel 4 broadcast. -

Registered 12 years agoIf you've seen the original I wouldn't bother with the remake, the first few episodes are all right but by the end it is just terrible. -

Registered 12 years agoThe head writer seems totally oblivious to why people were so pissed off at the end of the US remake. She even compares it to the end of the Sopranos which just shows she is totally missing the point. -
Does the Danish original follow the same storyline as the US one? I know how american writers love to make things worse.
I must admit, I think the lead actress is brilliant but this show has left me a bit dissapointed with the finale.
I also thought it was going to be about 7 episodes long but turned out double that. -

Registered 14 years agoBut seriously, who the fuck killed the girl in the Danish series? I watched almost all of it and missed the last couple of episodes. Somebody please pm me the answer? -

Registered 13 years agoIt was that friend and employee of the Larsen's, the bloke the a ratty face. Can't remember his name.
Anyways, started watching the US remake. It just feels....wrong. There's something really off about the acting, somehow. The Danish version felt visceral and gritty. This feels like amateur hour. -

Registered 13 years agoYeah. It's also unique (I think) in that it concentrates so much on the impact of the death on the family and those around them. So many crime dramas just go "oh look, a corpse! Lets catch the baddie!" and leave untouched the potential for drama in exploring the fact that somebody that mattered to someone has died in horrible circumstances. Dunno if the American remake was the same - I gave up after the 1st ep.

Registered 15 years agoI thought the US one was a carbon copy of the original. Guess not and I stupidly looked at that spoiler, oh well. The US one wasn't that good, seemed too obvious and all these plots just popped up then gone the next episode, you might as well just watch the last two episodes since they did nothing with the characters.
How does the original end other than the different murderer ? -

Watching this, too, atm. Seen 2/3rds of the episodes. Wouldn't have thought a Danish series with English subtitles that goes on for 20 (?) hours would glue me to my seat as much as it does. It really is excellent, with some of the best character studies I've seen on mainstream TV. -

Registered 15 years agoThe Danish one is one of the best bits of telly I've watched in ages. The direction and acting is so understated, especially compared to UK crime dramas.
It treats the audience like they might, you know, actually be able to pay attention for more than 30 seconds.
Can't wait for the second series. They've also just finished showing the second series of the Yellow Bird (Swedish) Wallander as well on BBC4. That's well worth watching when it comes on again, miles better than the Kenneth Brannagh verison. -

Registered 14 years agoStarted slowly but as the 1st 2 episodes of series 2 progressed the familiar feeling came back, and I'm gripped again.
I initially thought that the reduction from 22 eps to 10 was drastic, but not every police investiagtion is the same, I guess. Spiral did it in 8 episodes, was focused and fast-moving, and still managed to be up there with the best, so its possible.
Am also starting to get some theories again, e.g.
Maybe the terror plot being a smokescreen/decoy for a bigger conspiracy?
The military commander being insistent on everything going through him, being reluctant to see Jens released (who we know has a link to Wyg) as his wife says, suggesting he and his henchmen know more about what's going on that he lets on.
Then there's the convenient story that's been cocked up by the soldier who bought the Jihad books to supposedly get 'intel' on how the enemy thinks, and running away from the scene of a crime to protect the rep of the barracks? While waiting for the commander to smooth things out with his contacts at special branch.
I thought that Wyg guy was a bit cryptic, he seemed a bit too eager to go back, and when asked it was as if he was going back to do something, maybe unsavoury, then he ends up dead, and now stuff is being pinned on him about accessing records.
And of course Jens' link to the whole thing, being enough to see him escape from a psychiatric hospital and jeopardize his future freedom. Perhaps he knows the perpetrator?
