Registered 11 years agoHmm Tages 3 machine limit ... as good a reason as any to put this to the back of the list. So many good games out that it's got to the point where I am actively looking for reasons not to buy stuff. Still want to try it though as I've enjoyed the series so far and the German reviews seem quite positive. -
I'm considering picking this up. Never played a Anno before. Would it be an idea to play one of the previous games first before leaping into the future?
Also, nice fact about all the anno's adding up to 9. -

Registered 13 years agoI was thinking of getting it but as soon as the tages 3 machine limit was spotted I stopped right there. I'll get it when that is removed, 3 machine limit is total bullshit. -
You want this on more than 3 machines? -

Registered 13 years agoHad a go at the demo, seemed alright, had a few bugs though
-Upgraded storehouse, it disappeared, couldn't build anything where it used to be (and it wasn't just invisible or anything)
-Coal+power plant objective wouldn't complete until I build a second set, spend ages waiting for something to happen
-transports wouldn't pick up from a mine that was required for tools, it's name was now listed as debug test, couldn't destroy it or otherwise interact with it. Basically ended the demo as I couldn't progress any further
Shame, as the premise seemed interesting, might give another go later -

Registered 15 years agoDoes this edition have active pause - or at least time control - in single player or are the devs still stubbornly refusing to include it in the series?
I purchased AD 1701 and the fact AIs can instantly cover an island with structures as soon as they land while players can't build while paused or slow the game down was game-breaking for me.
Moreover I like to play this sort of thing laid-back and even on smaller maps the later game is a rather hectic logistic buzz. Time control would again have helped. -
Is this good? Never seems to have got reviewed on here as far as I can tell.
Is it more Sim City or Civ? Hopefully the former for me. -

Registered 16 years agoOnly played the demo but have played all the previous games. It's much more Sim City with a healthy does of The Settlers thrown in. It's very much centered on setting up supply chains, although the demo makes it clear there's a lot more mission based gameplay. -
Hmmm, interesting. Does look like my kind of thing. Good review on IGN but I'd like a source I respect a bit more really. Wonder why EG never reviewed it.
I'll turn up in a Steam sale at some point I expect. I'll try to forget about it until then. -

Registered 9 years agoBut it counts any hardware change as being a new machine as well. So if you upgrade your PC, the game will detect new hardware and make you activate it again. So after a few years, where you might have swapped out various bits in your computer, you suddenly have a game you're unable to play. -

Registered 9 years agoBluebyte changed that hardware change thing. I think it's just back to the 3 machine limit again. -
...until you call support who let you play it again. It's stupid I agree but hardly means you can't play it ever again. -

So, the MP any good? Only bought this last night so not got very far. -
I'm still waiting for price drop, Ubi games normally tank in value pretty quickly but this one is holding on surprisingly well. -
Moot point tonight as I can't log into the server \o/
