I'm fantasising about buying an Eames lounger and ottoman. However, my fantasises have to be cheap, since a £5k official one is out of the question. So, can anyone recommend a good online furniture shop where I can buy a replica? Prices I've seen online range from as 'low' as £230 all the way to a grand or more, even for a repro.

I've seen them in tkmax before.

Don't worry about buying a cheap version, it was designed to be mass produced. Relatively cheap materials an all.

Slightly linked, any recommendations for online furniture shops other than ikea and John Lewis? Not high end but modern at a decent price.

    Goban,

Had no idea TK Maxx sold 'em. Thanks for the tip off.

I'm not worried about buying a cheap version, but I just want to make sure I get a decent cheap one. If I buy one, it'll be the most I've spent on furniture.

Your definition of "not high end" may differ slightly.

I found a video of a replica Eames being assembled, presumably in a Chinese factory. The one thing that puts really me off is how the armrests have haphazard stapling on them. Also, it's a bit amusing that this guy is doing all the nuts with an alan key, but in videos from the official factory, they use electric drills.

THanks for the link. I've been checking those shops out.

I found a website that lets people buy direct from China. The chair is about £230, but postage bumps it to almost £700.

Assuming shops will pay £200 - 230, £400 or so all in isn't too bad.
