I booted this up to mess about on last night, did an escort mission and it quickly escalated into the endgame. Didn't see it coming so backed out of it.

I'm level 48, would going to BBI be okay around now?

Also, quaddy's Uncle Vyrt from the PS4 is making mincemeat out of some of them.
Yeah you can get a fair bit in at 48.

Uncle vyrt on the PS4 is an absolute machine :) glad you're enjoying his assistance :)

I've just completed Zelda and looking for another action/adventure game. How similar is Dragon's Dogma to Witcher 3? I absolutely loved the later.

Is it visually in the ballpark as Witcher 3? What's the split between exploration (towns, cities), adventure (running errands) and action? Do enemies re-spawn? Would this be recommended over Skyrim?

Except visually as good as Witcher 3, that is not the case

@Graxlar_v3 Does DD have a story and some sword difficulty setting? I prefer exploration over difficult fights.

@Iwasexclusive story - yes, though its not worth the effort to follow it. There is an easy mode, never used it so couldnt tell you what it is like.

@Iwasexclusive I used easy mode (and still do!) and I've enjoyed it. I'm anything but good at games (struggled on the bosses on BOTW) and don't like to be a stress bunny at the end of playing a game.

You can make it even easier by hiring very high level pawns. This you can do at no cost by sending a friend request to the person who owns the pawn.

Screw it, I@m going to play this again tonight.

...even though my NG+ person is as tall as I could make them so I could carry more and run faster, but she looks like she should be in a bloody circus now.

I need to get back to it too. I knew I'd have no time this week though because of work. I'll fit it in soon

I really wish there was a demo for this game. Games on Switch are not cheap and I'm really unsure about DD. I absolutely loved Witcher 3, every 310 hours of it.

@Iwasexclusive look on YouTube. There are plenty of ďfirst twenty minuteĒ videos of it. I looked at a few before I bought.

As for cost, itís £25 which is about the cheapest game from a major publisher Iíve seen. Yes itís old, but itís cheaper than Skyrim was.

Itís not a perfect game. Itís smaller and shorter than I thought it would be, but then Iíve still got fog on my map and Iíve not been in bbi. However, not sure Iím going to spend several hundred hours with it like I have Skyrim. Itís a lot of fun though.

Other negatives are pop up, some frame drops, difficult inventory system, a very limited crafting system, poor textures in places, cliched plot in places, limited actual plot, constantly respawning mobs (same ones in the same place with the same comments gets a bit old), limited fast travel, quests that can cancel or fail for no apparent reason and itís a bit confusing in places. Oh and QuickTime.

All that said Iíve really enjoyed it. Better fighting than Skyrim, better dungeons and better more dramatic skills, but Iím torn as to which I preferred at the moment. Maybe Skyrim, despite its many issues. But then Iíve not done bbi yet.

    Secret softener is your friend

But yeah, you really need to bring the right kit with you in bbi when you're starting out there. Loot is ace though

On my recent effort at playing it again I ended up facing a giant beholder with 9 health markers and I was doing no damage at all. I haven't played it for ages and I had no idea how to fight it. I am pretty sure it is my only route top.

How I did that was hack itís tentacles and avoid its eye. When youíve hacked enough it will fall over and itís eye will be vulnerable. Hack the eye for major damage.
I did meet a small one that was only vulnerable when it was spell casting also met a hydra that was seriously tough.

Wasnít BBI meant to be a place for people doing new game plus modes where your character is around level 70 or so?

BBI lulls you into a false sense of security with a few hellhounds and smelliest before upping its game something awful. And thereís the true last boss in Gran Soren to beat too.

Edit: Said boss drops a ton of loot thatís perfect for BBI but can be either simple to beat (play in online mode) or tricky (offline) and can be fought in the endgame. Right after that Wakestone fetch quest.

Think I had a bug with that grand soren end game boss. I found the place, killed some npcs, saw a stone tablet and then was told the boss was coming. I assumed it was through the door in front of me which kicked me out of the area.

I logged online while outside and reentered. No sign of the boss and multiple entries and hanging around in and off line and they didnít turn up. I gave up in the end.

Not related, but in ng+, whereís my pawn gone?

@Graxlar_v3 I quite enjoyed that bit, it was different. Apparently the Ur drops lots. I went through about 7 areas and got enough just from that. I found lots in boxes etc.

hydra and never ending tentacles were both tough and I lost a pawn to cockatrices. Took a couple of hours to do the lot.

I got this the other day for ma switch, and have been doing the usual poking around trying to figure out the systems, as any decent new game demands. I was initially thinking that that moment where the game *clicks* wasn't going to arrive, but then it did tonight!

I realised that you can hold the right shoulder to do mad attacks and fucking destroy enemies. The combat went from awful to amazing in one moment, and I'm now hooked. I seem to now be deliberately hanging about in a forest at night just to kill shit.

Hope I'm not doing it wrong.

    @daver

The left shoulder button does other mental attacks too :)

And when you level up, go to the inn in gran Soren and check your skills - more become available as you level up. As does your pawn.

@quadfather Sweet cheers! I noticed also that in the storage of the first village inn there were some goodies waiting for me. Really liking what I've played so far. Definitely got the kind of wonk that I like.

I read that any dragon can dragon forge your kit as long as you've enhanced it by one star (which you can do with "just" money).

Edit: I read some more and "other" dragons just have a chance of dragon foging equipment, only the end boss and Ur dragon are certain to dragon forge kit.

Yup, you get that as part of the dlc for free. That kit is probably better than what you've got at the start for sure.

What vocation are you by the way?

For setting and learning skills, you really need to follow the main quest until it takes you to a place called Gran Soren which is the capital city. At the inn there you can sort out all your skills and assign the ones you want.

Also, it's good if you can choose a pawn that compliments your character. So if you're a mage, you could have a fighter pawn. Or vice versa.

Note, only a mage can heal. This is important to note :) I always have my pawn as a mage so he can faff with all the spells and healing while I get stuck in :)

It's so much fun at night too. But for god's sake, make sure everyone has a lantern and some spare oil!

As well as you and your pawn, you'll eventually have the option to hire another 2 pawns from the Rift. If you add people here onto your friends list, you can hire their main pawns to your party for free. Otherwise you have to pay in the currency of rift crystals which are few and far between right at the start. Add all of us to your list so you can choose who you want for free.

When it clicks with all 4 of you going mental, kicking the shit out of stuff, it's a thing of beauty :)

Yeah, I normally just do Ur and then move on. I've totally forgotten the layout of the everfall as well which isn't going to help.

Dammit, I'm working from home today but gotta wait by the door for a delivery or I could be on it right now! Suppose I could undock it but I like the big screen on this
