Registered 10 months agoAdmittedly I've still got the last episode to go which is a tacked on ending apparently , but would probably put it at a 7 myself.
It's worth watching for how they nail some of the casting at least. -

Registered 9 years agoI just finished it too, and it's... not great. Not the worst thing ever, but imo it really suffered from being only 9 episodes long. Everything was rushed.
I'd give it a 6, generously. -

Really enjoyed the first series but this was very average to the point of probably being under average. The crime and investigation was fine but too much was added in for no reason. Lisa's ex coming back, her Boss's marriage breakdown etc.
5/10.
Starting Marcella series 3 tonight, hopefully better and back on form after a poor ending to series 2 a couple of years back. -

Time for my annual rewatch, and no matter how many times I've seen it, it remains my favourite TV show. I love the farkness of it, and yet there's still a slim hope running through it. The cast is great, and the title theme sublime.

Registered 16 years agoDon't think I've ever watched millennium. Does it get to a proper ending or did it suffer from being cancelled?
Was just about to launch on rewatch of X Files as it happens -

Registered 17 years agoIt does have an ending in the third season, although it doesn't wrap everything up. They did do a crossover episode after in X-Files that's ok, and does expand on what happened. -

Registered 14 years agoThe second season has far more variety and a much stronger arc: on rewatching I find the first season much more formulaic until the final few episodes. S2 goes all over the place and is quite mental, particularly when Morgan and Wong thought they were going to get cancelled and didn't give a shit, but in a good way, and went up to 11 for the last episode.

A rewatch because neither Mrs Maybe or myself could remember what happened beyond the initial set up.
Gruesome infant murders in olde timey New York. Mostly its a detective procedural in a period setting and is pretty good at it for four or five episodes but the plot runs out of steam and they are never quite able to kick start it again.
Daniel Bruhl remains handsome throughout.

Really enjoyed. Marcella goes deep undercover (after her complete breakdown and "death" in series 2) in Belfast to infiltrate and bring down Heather Haversham and Jamie McGuire!

The first season was really good, well acted and a cool sense of mystery throughout. Each season since hasn't kept up to that standard but this one really took the piss. Jumped the shark big time and just totally pointless.

Registered 15 years agoExpanse S5: This might have been ok as an S2 or S3 but to get all the way to the gate and then walk it back to a war with the belters just felt regressive. I know its not the shows fault, its what happens in the books but, wow, this felt like an anti-climax. Especially since I dont really care about the beltahz.

Generally my favourite shows are fairlt typical - West Wing, Firefly, The WIre, Carnivale, Deadwood - a mixture really. -

I'm not a big fan of the new character Lara Means. Here's my thing - she's a liability that doesn't add a great deal, and her extended music video detracts from an otherwise awesome finale. They add variety to the show as they delve deeper into the millennium group and its motivations, but unfortunately this leads to a slightly uneven quality. Although there's still some of my favourite episodes in this season.

It's a strange concept that at first just seems like someone came up with an idea at the pub and went with it all the way to release. At first it starts off like a shitty B rated comedy but it has charm that shines through and eventually by the end of the first episode your hooked. It builds into a wholesome comedy and it's exactly what I needed.
It helps that it was set and filmed in my home town.
I loved it.
(I've purposely not said what it's about cause it sounds shit)

Unfortunately they walk back some of the impact of the previous season, but the addition Emma Holis does mix the dynamic up and add some worthwhile story. There's two main issues. The most important is the ending - I think there could have been at least another season to finish things up. The other issue is the overarching storyline isn't fully committed too. Even so, it's still a cracking watch.

I also watched the crossover episode with X-Files, and while it was nice to see Frank again, it didn't add a great deal besides the kiss. I might have to rewatch this as well. -

Indeed, but also the wider story about the Millennium Group was never properly resolved and of course the consequences of Emma's choice.
