I was really enjoying it for 4 or 5 episodes. But the latter episodes and typing out my previous post has made me realise how irritated it made me feel by the end.

    Speaking of Killing Eve

    S3 - 7/10

It's still watchable but it's missing that spark that made the first season special. Has too many subplots that aren't really great too.

Yeah I agree. It's very watchable after three seasons but the first season is the best by far. I found Dasha particularly irritating in S3 which didn't help.

She was a bit too much ham added with all the others.

Yeah exactly. Your point about all the subplots is the main issue I had though. The first series was tight. Straightforward cat and mouse. The second series continued that but with them working together in places. It unravelled a little bit but was still pretty coherent from episode to episode. The third series is all over the place and there wasn't a strong singular plot binding it all together. I guess the guy jumping off the roof was meant to be it, but that largely felt lost in everything else. Dasha, Konstantin and his daughter, the guy from League of Gentlemen, mother/daughter issues, Villanelle having a mental breakdown, etc. Just too many things.

Attack on Titan -Season 4 Part 1

So the next episodes arenít going to be out until December at the earliest apparently, so better sprawl my opinion out now while I can still remember.

    A recap:
    Season 1: 10/10
    Season 2: 8/10
    Season 3: 5/10 for part 1, 8/10 for part 2

So now that we suffered through the royal family story and all the clunky world building is finished, weíre free to enjoy the final season.

It has some issues. I still feel like I should have kept a flip chart handy to keep track of the history of the world and who the hell everyone is - made all the more complicated when they dump new characters on us with all the nuance of a toddler unloading their toys on the floor.

But everything gets turned upside down this season - and kudos for not keeping to the same perspective throughout. Itís a tough ask to keep track of whoís who and what their motivations are, but itís still probably one of the most effective meditations on war out there. Itís brutal, itís complex, itís satisfying. And the theme tune is banging.

    9/10

I gave up at the first half of S3, so might have to give it another chance... Well I'll stick with it for the theme song at least!

Strangely the score I gave for each series also applies to the respective theme song...

    Stargate Universe (S1)

I enjoyed it a bit more than on the first viewing when it was released. It's main issue is that it's a bit po faced compared to the previous shows, and takes itself too seriously, but also lacks the team chemistry that made the others watchable. There's also too much filler, so the pacing is quite slow.

It's also a massive wasted opportunity - they travel to a distant galaxy and their biggest threat was humans - the previous series at least had some fun enemies.

    6/10

Just started watching Staged on Netflix. Enjoying it.

But one question - is the picture so jaggy because of the way it was filmed? Or have I left some picture setting on my tv on accidentally.

@simpleexplodingmaybe cool, I thought it was. It just gave me weird PS3 port flashbacks.

    The Queens Gambit - Netflix.

Watched the whole thing over 2 evenings and loved every minute of it. Well worth a watch.

    Unorthodox - Netflix

Interesting story, opening a window on a world I didn't know much about.
4 episodes, so didn't outstay my welcome.

Schitt's Creek S1-6. 9/10 overall. Was a bit of a slow start and I struggled with the characters for a season and a half but once it clicked, I thought it was exceptional. It's warm, funny, sweet and deals with relationships in a very real way but without drama. Firmly recommended, and if you started it and binned it, give it another go. The pay off is worth it.
This review hooked me in and I have to agree.
Just started series 5 and it really is quite charming.

    Roaming The Wild

BBC Scotland series where a pair of guys walk, cycle and canoe various routes about Scotland. Thereís only four episodes because the pandemic stopped production on series 2 but its incredibly relaxing with some beautifully shot stuff and excellent soundtrack.

    10/10

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

It was ok, but a bit disappointing compared to some of the other Marvel output. It was a fairly generic story, but had enough going to keep me watching. I don't think he's as good a Cap as Steve, but I see where they're going

One of the biggest issues for me was the blandness of the villains, especially the freckly moany girl. To be fair, the two leads weren't my favourite characters from the MCU either.

    5/10

That sounds nice. We've got into Fishing with Bob and Paul as well as Travel Man with Ayoade in the last year. Almost without realising. Think they nourish that part of us which longs to go somewhere other than our 2 mile radius.

    The Falcon and Winter Soldier

Solid thriller that exceeded my expectations and even came with some real emotional pay offs in the end.

Probably the smallest scale and most grounded MCU production in a lot of ways. The character driven stuff and getting sight of the MCU outside of big superhero skybeam adventures helped make it for me too.

    8/10

Definitely occupies a similar wholesome fulfilling space as Bob and Paul for me

Line of Duty (all of them up to latest episode) - 9 and 10/10

Did a massive binge doing a series a night. Reminds me a lot of 24 in the way its shot and edited but obviously very different.

Pretty much as good as TV gets.

    Now we're sucking diesel!

Waiting for the last two episodes before I jump back in to that. One of my all time fave shows.

Currently watching This is Us, which is pretty good but my missus seems to enjoy it far more than I do, so it's the only thing we've got on the go at the moment.

    S1 - 8/10 (10/10 for her)
    S2 - 7/10 (10/10 for her)

    The Office season 8

Had it on in the background as I WFH. I remember binning it around half way through s7 when on the air as the quality had dropped a lot and steve carrell was just phoning it in until he could leave. S8 is pretty meh, not s7 was great. New characters are awful and Andy benard is terrible as main character, more of B character.

    5/10

    For all mankind. S2 6/10

8 episodes of filler almost make the last 2 worthwhile.
Boring emotional subplots aplenty in this show but there is just enough cool space stuff to keep you watching. It looks fantastic to be fair. It's ultimately undermined by characters who are so emotionally all over the place that they'd never get near a space mission in reality. Prometheus syndrome.
