Watched the first episode of this yesterday and thought it was outstanding.

Sean Bean is so good at portraying fragility, and I give the show credit for the thick Scouse accents!

    Three Girls

One of those programmes that had me fuming with the injustice of it all. Well presented, utterly compelling and uncomfortable to watch.

Yeah I thought the first episode was a very good watch. McGovern does prison.

    Never seen it. Sounds shit.

And I'm miscalibrated for not liking the 5 years too late direft to dvd movie of a show that ended pretty much as well as you can expect, with no further development of the character.

Sometimes you just need to leave things as they are. Same with Better Call Saul - it could have ended at series 3. But dragged its heels with two more series. Audiences can fill in the blanks perfectly fine.

El Camino was basically the closest TV has ever come to the DLC you get if your pre order a game at Game. It wasnít needed but at least it had Jesse Plemons which elevated it considerably.

Not having that about Better Call Saul though. Links to Breaking Bad or no, itís a thoroughly decent series in its own right.

BCS is more than decent, it holds it own easily. And it's got better as it's gone on.

I've found it becoming less enjoyable the closer it gets to BB. First 3 series were top notch but think they may have overstretched slightly.

I rewatched the first three seasons of Breaking Bad recently. It's remarkable how much of a narcissistic asshole Walter is and he pretty much gets away with it for longer than he should because cancer. In fact most of the characters are assholes. That's not the case in Better Call Saul.

    Sweet Tooth (netflix)

I havenít read the comics so I canít comment on what terrible and grievous changes they made in the adaptation but I really enjoyed this.

Its basically a charming and twee take on the sad dad genre of post-apocalyptic journeys. A cute sentimental Last of Us without the fungus. All the focus on children and Gus looking a bit like Baby Maybe got me right in the dad feelings.

My only real criticisms would be that they only really gave two of the hybrids decent make-up so most look like cheap fancy dress and that the ending was such a set-up the next
season job that nothing gets resolved

I really hope it doesnít get the Jupiterís Legacy treatment.

    8.5/10

Not a review of Adult Material

Got through one episode of this and itís really good. But canít bear to watch any more because clearly everyone involved is going to have a horrible time.

Itís like Citizen Kane. But Rosebud wasnít a sled.

This Time with Alan Partridge - series 2

Still not reaching the heights of Midmorning Matters, and doesn't necessarily improve the formula from last series, but it still hits more than it misses. Suitably explosive ending which seems to indicate they won't be returning to this for a third series, which is probably for the best just because it would be difficult to keep it fresh in this format.

This. I'm invested in the characters that AREN'T in BB but Jimmy's character has run its course. This is why I feel it's been spinning its wheels over series 4-5. Nacho, Chuck and Lallo are excellent but that whole two series arc about a particular BB location was wasted hours.

    Mare of Easttown

Bit late to the party with this one but an all round good show.
Well written, well acted, engaging characters, mildly intriguing mystery and Guy Pearce looking like Dracula.

If you cunts liked it then it's probably shit. Anyway...

    Time (BBC)

Fucking hell, Sean Bean and Stephen Graham continue to knock it out the park. My knowledge of prison (second hand from 1 prisoner, 2 coppers and a civil worker) tells me it's fairly truthful. Says what it needs to say without being preachy and doesn't hold back.

Along with The Virtues and Broken, proves that when allowed to not do formula and set up further series, we write some top notch stuff.

    9/10

Stephen Graham is a fucking powerhouse.

    Gangs of London

Late to the game with this one. Enjoyed it overall but felt quite disjointed in terms of its action and storytelling.

Episode 1 sets things up brilliantly, but then it peaks at Episode 5 (which is easily some of the best action ever seen in a TV series) and then fizzles out towards the end.

Felt like it should have been 6 or 7 episodes instead of 9, but still very good overall. Someone needs to give Gareth Evans a big budget because thereís no one directing action like him at the moment.

    7.5/10 (with episode 5 being a 10/10)

    Futurama Season 7 (Disney+)

I never properly watched the post-revival seasons and was a bit worried that they may have lost the magic of the original five (four in UK) seasons. The movies that became S6 werenít amazing but after an iffy first episode S7 really drops right back into the groove. Nostalgia is obviously playing a part but this is streets ahead of Disenchantment.

    9/10 enjoyment

Yeah I think I prefer Better Call Saul in parts because there are more likeable characters. BB was almost they're such absolute pieces of shit it's funny.

El Camino was absolute tripe. If it's DLC then it is definitely horse armour. Would rather watch big fat Todd do dumb accents with Kirsten Dunst in the crapy second Fargo season. Fuck, I'd rather watch The Fly episode.
