    The Haunting of Hill House

Just superb. Probably my favourite show of the year, definitely my favourite horror show ever and better than 99.9% of horror films.

The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell

Netflix cooking show that takes place in an Addams Family style fictional setting. All the monsters are Henson studio puppets too.

It's funny and spooky in all the right ways.

    Better call Saul season 4

Still excellent, I read that we are getting a season 5, which I would imagine will take us to the brink of BB.

The Man in the High Castle - S3

Its still very slow with a number of boring characters whose stories get far more time than they need (pretty much all of the Japanese side). But the good stuff (John Smith and the Nazis) was still good enough to keep me interested and looking forward to season 4.

    Season 1 - 9/10
Fantastic opening with some very memorable episodes, definitely among my favourites.

    Season 2 - 8/10
Not quite as good as the first IMO, but still had some very good episodes.

    Season 3 - 7/10
Some good episodes, but some pretty weak ones too. Still enjoyed it, but not as good as most of the others, bang the bad episodes really drag it down.

    Season 4 - 10/10
Didn't realise at the time but looking through the episode guide there's so many I enjoyed in this season, dai just fantastic.

    Season 5 - 8/10
Generally good, though not up to the excellence of 4, some weak episodes bring it down.

    Season 6 - 9/10
Very well balanced season with some fantastic episodes, enjoyed almost every single one.

    Season 7 - 8/10 lam
Mostly great with a few weak episodes in there, didn't appreciate the somewhat abrupt ending.

    Season 8 - 10/10
Just loved this one, worked together is some of the series' finest stuff.

    Season 9 - 8/10
Seems to get a lot of hate but I enjoyed it on the whole, some fantastic episodes alongside some admittedly weaker efforts.
    Thank you

I like Doggett as much as the next guy, but season 8 is nowhere near a 10/10.

Inside n0 9. 9/10 Really love everything they do, and although the themes are very different, I get the feeling they are taking some inspiration from Black mirror. Which could only be a good thing.

Talking of which I hope the next season of Black Mirror is dropped this Christmas like last year. Made my festive season or new year, whenever it was released, last time.

Given how highly regarded it is I'm really not feeling the US Office. Just started season 2 and pretty close to giving up on it. Does it noticeably better or is this pretty much it?

Yeah it does, much like Parks and Rec it gradually gives up on trying to be The (UK) Office and becomes its own thing.

I just whizzed through it over the past few weeks. Started at S2 and finished this evening. I thought it peaked around S4/5.

I noticed that the amount I was chuckling really went down after S7.

The issue really is that it's nigh on impossible for the US Office to ever get out of the shadow of the original. The nuances and attention of the original is astonishing, each character is fully rounded out and layered.

The US Office either tried that (Jim and Pam Vs Dwight just comes off as mean spirited), or went with new, odd characters without much depth (Creed, Meredith etc).

Still funny in parts but it's not the same show at all, it turns into a sitcom rather than a mockumentary

US Office is completely its own thing by the third season. Even much of the second too.

It dips hard when Michael leaves later on but it's an absolute joy for longer than not

The Haunting Of Hill House - 10/10 for 9.5 episodes - 1/10 for 0.5 of the final episode

Utterly fantastic with a fuck off huge turd of a caveat. Plenty of spinning and twists from the book and the first film if you love those and the flashback mechanics are new and work incredibly well adding huge depth to the characters. Yeah, it's the best horror tv show ever without doubt (Channel Zero comes very close though, as does The Terror), but much more than that it's a study of a family under extreme trauma - I identified with a lot of it and it affected me surprisingly deeply.

But then we get to that final half of the final episode and for me, it totally shits itself with sentimentality. No spoilers obvs, but it has left a tainted view of the whole thing for me. Suppose when some of the issues are personal you may have a more fixed view of how you want things to turn out.

There's a one take scene here that rivals the new one in Daredevil. Some of the work here is real peak TV, so watch it deffo.

Finished off Jack Ryan last night, I quite liked it. It felt like a simplified Homeland for people with short attention spans. Which is me really.

I've been watching 'The Mighty Redcar' over the last couple of days. There's only 4 episodes so I've managed to watch the whole series in breaks between calls / work

Quite a sad place really, the youngsters there must be desperate to move away and they all seem to idolise London like it's the solution to all problems (here's a tip for free - it's not)

    Dark (Netflix)

I'm doubtless going against the grain by saying I didn't like this at all. Too many characters came across as the same person in the early half of the series and it was difficult to tell who was related to who. When the series got going, this got even more difficult for obvious reasons.

Then there's the premise itself. I saw it touted as "Germany's Stranger Things", but its not a patch on that imo. It has no humour or soul and to be honest I also couldn't care less about any of the characters. I think the forewarned ending is just about what they deserve. I'm not sure I related to Ulrich and how his storyline ended either.

The dubbing didn't help and felt very obvious to me and... well... I got what was happening, but just really didn't care. I think it was more complicated than it needed to be, the characters needed to be defined better and it needed someone amongst them all who was just nice and normal.

Music was decent and Noah was good but underused.

    5/10 I'll not be watching season 2.

Finding this weirdly entertaining, yet not humourous in the slightest.
