    The Handmaid's Tale S1 - 10/10

This is absolutely bang on. One of the best adaptations I've ever seen. Faithful to the novel, but makes some changes here and there and they pretty much all work. It's a nasty, brutal series which manages to shock even though I've read the book. Elisabeth Moss is so good as Offred. And it's beautifully shot throughout.

    Luther S1 8/10

Finally got round to this and thought it was rather good. Idris is really good in the role and holds it all together.

I did find the Alice character a bit panto villain like though.

Now to cram in Seasons 2-4 by New Years day and S5.

    Nailed it! Holidays - 8/10

Premise of the show is bakers who can't bake try to recreate intricate cakes. The results are great and show is very funny.

    It's on Netflix.

Yeah HT is one of my favourite shows of recent years, loved it. Yet to read the book, but ordered it yesterday with some xmas money. Look forward to reading it.

The Man in the High Castle S3

Loved it. It took a few episodes to get going but the second half of the season is fantastic. Great characters, good drama, exciting, suspenseful. I guess maybe the second season isn't amazing because it took me a while to remember what happened to whom and it feels like the first half of the season 3 is rectifying certain story threads but once it has tidied up it feels like an extension of S1. It's top stuff.

Show reminds me a lot of Fringe which i loved. It kind of shares the bond between characters that I really liked in that show, as well as being a bit geeky too.

    4.5/5

    Last Man on Earth s2

2 people have been recommended this show very heavily, it has nice ideas but the main character (Tandy) is too annoying and when is all about him it becomes crap and end up ffd it. Trouble is the person who plays him, is the creator and main writer and feels like none of the other staff would say no to him and its all "yes sir, great fucking idea!"

January Jones is actually really good (always thought she was on auto pilot in mad men) final eps of s2 makes we want to try s3

Its ok to have on while working/5

    Altered Carbon 8.5/10
Really good and gorgeous to look at, loses its way a little with the murder investigation but the last 4 episodes really were very good. Especially liked the flash beck episode which was quite moving. Looking forward very much to season 2.

    Luther Season 2 8/10

Looks like it has had some more money thrown at it but it keeps the momentum going from S1.

A couple of good jump scares as well.

    Luther Season 3 9/10

More high stakes investigations and personal drama for Loofah.Having four eps per season makes the flow better. I thought this was on par with previous seasons. Roll on S4 and S5.

    Black Mirror - Series 1

All three of these episodes are much more bleak than I remember them being.

History of You might be as starkly miserable as any of the premises the show has ever had.

National Anthem has some elements which have only become more relevant but a slight whiff of edgelordiness taints it a bit.

Million Credits feels like the archetype of how the show is pigeonholed by reviewers.

    Pine Gap - 8/10

Surprisingly watchable. Wasn't quite sure about it halfway through the first episode but they've certainly mastered the cliffhanger.

    Black Mirror - Series 2

Some actual lightness in this season. And grimness too.

The first episode hints at what becomes a secret strength of the show - tenderness and vulnerability.

I can't help being reminded of Jonathan Pie's alt.right scripted anti-politics disguised as satire by Waldo. Another Black Mirror which is bleeding into reality.

    9/10

The gap between satire and real life is speeding up, isn't it. Brooker had to give up TV Go Home because telly was parodying itself quicker and to lower depths than he could

    Travellers seasons 1-2

    8/10

Leave your most basic rules of time travel at the door and enjoy the ride. Somehow manages to be light enough and touch enough bases to binge with the other half, while exploring some interesting themes with a dollop of hard scifi.

Bollocks basically, but highly enjoyable bollocks

Fear the walking dead season 4

Even at 16 or so episodes, it felt very padded, the writers are very lazy in their writing. They make up a really bad villain for the 2nd half, who can sneak up on everyone and cross vast distance at the writers whim. Parts of it was ok, better than the last season of TWD I watched (s8 - which was utter shit)

    6/10

    Waco: Madman or Messiah?

BBC4 doing a masterful two parter on the Waco siege and David Koresh's Branch Davidians.

Characters from law enforcement and the cult all take turns in both sympathetic and harsh portrayals and the whole thing is dripping in impending doom.

Fascinating and not sparing much in highlighting what a tragic fuck up the whole situation became.

    You

Stalker/serial killer thing told from the point of view of the crazy guy. With his internal monologue explaining his actions to himself throughout. Its kind of trashy at times and all of the characters are hateful but it really is an excellent look at obsession and also the vapidness of social media and the lifestyles built around it. Very very good. 9/10

    Sunderland Till I Die

    I came.

    The Sinner S2 - 6/10

Loved the first series. This one is quite a bit more conventional and the supporting characters are far less interesting. It's not bad, but the first series was such a treat that this feels like quite a let down. Unless they smash it with S3, I'd be surprised if it keeps on getting renewed.

    Luther series 5 - 7/10

They cranked it up to 11 when I donít think they really needed to, the released are so infrequent that Luther being Luther and doing Luther things is enough. Still good watching the character though

    Luther series 5

The first two episodes were very good set up but it went downhill drastically from the there. The final episode was as bad as they could have made considering the source material - total rubbish

    4 out of 10 overall

Enjoyed it, not sure how he is coming back from that.

    7/10

    Also
I bought season 1-8 of Curb your enthusiasm. This is based on watching maybe 50 clips on YT. I have never watched it, seen a single episode or was interested in Seinfeld BUT based on the afore mentioned clips of Curb, I'm going

10/10 for all of it. I can't wait to start tonight.

Curb is simply fantastic. Shame the actor who plays Marty Funkhouser died earlier this week.

Yeah, I saw that mate. I did like the joke he tells Seinfeld, as did my missus, she laughed like a sailor ;)
