Settling comfortably into Altered Carbon season 2 like a familiar old sleeve. I read the second Altered Carbon book aaages ago, so currently am in happy ignorance as to how far they've buggered around with the plot. Edited by Immaterial at 22:16:43 29-02-2020 |

Seemed a bit generic, but is still doing enough to keep me going. I don't think it has the tension and well written characters of other dramas of it's ilk, but it's easy watchable end of the day stuff.
Time to crack on(as it were) with S3. -

A Finnish murder mystery and political drama (it would be nice to see some of these thrillers without a political component, although this is more business than government). The investigation is fairly decent, but the lead is a bit mental and that distracts from the show a bit. Still worth a watch though.

Shame you are not totally enjoying. I have been the champion for it, along with Top Boy (including season 3) I totally loved it.

Registered 9 years agoI think snowfall is great too, just starting s3 now. It's not up there with the wire but it's way better than most tv. It did take a little time for me to get into though as the 3 storylines took a bit of adjusting.

Maybe not enough double-crossing going on compared to what I've been used to! 😃 -

On Netflix. Very good. Good cast, decent script. Action ok. Gripping domestic thriller. Perhaps a little convoluted but I thought that was forgiveable. -

S4 is not very good, lots of pointless episodes like the flashback episode
They don't bring back Vanessa's sister as she is suppose to be important, also kill off the great grand mother they just introduced in the opening episode. Then they introduce the "Van Helsing combat kids" who are just bland, not terrible but are the key to everything
I read the actress who plays Vanessa Van Helsing was pregnant again and can't film the rest of the episodes which explains why she is barely in it. The writers said they were always going to add the combat kids but its never set up
Some good ideas about whats left of the government but the final episode is just bad. S5 is the last season and good thing to -

Looked great, sounded good and a decent, if occasionally predictable story. I slightly prefer the first season mostly because I preferred the lead and the story was slightly tighter, but still a fun watch. The AI side plot felt a bit obvious, but I like the character, so it didn't detract too much.

Took me ages to get round to this, but glad I did. Good, psychological horror. It got a bit talky at the end but generally it was strong throughout.

Been catching up with this since it came on Sky Comedy and this was probably the best season of any comedy show I've ever watched. Just so many genius moments and brilliant performances. I watched the "rash on her pussy" episode in bed last night with the wife asleep and I woke her I was laughing at it so hard. The whole season was just perfect.

It's astonishing that a show in its seventh series and a decade into existence can be so funny. Denise Handicapped had me in absolute stitches. The "proclivity for chopsticks" line being a highlight.

I thought I'd give it a go after the recommendations in here an I agree with Vortex. Perfectly watchable but not hitting great heights. Great finale though and hopefully that carries on into the next season.
Franklin is a great actor and was surprised to learn he's English.

Shady secrets, murder, and a missing girl in the suburbs. Not quite sure about the accent, but the story was interesting enough.

Described as a Finnish Sherlock, mainly due to the lead being an odd, but highly intelligent investigator. It's a bit more low key than Sherlock, and also manages not to shit the bed too much at the end. He is certainly an odd, but interesting character and the investigation provide good watching. The daughters were a bloody liability and the Russian investigator a good balance for the lead. I enjoyed it a lot, and now onto the second season.

Rewatched this before starting Season 2 and I find it almost flawless.
The quality of acting, casting, atmosphere and, especially the writing is absolutely top notch, it's completely enthralling. Soundtrack is maybe a bit monotonous although the actual songs in it are perfect.

I was pleasantly surprised by this - it's one of the better King adaptations, although I haven't read the book, so don't know how closely it's stuck to the original. The story and characters all work well, the horror is nicely understated, but with some great atmosphere. It even has a decent ending - a rarity for a King story

Much better than the first season. Some incidents still get rushed, starting quickly and resolved in the same episode or next but it's an interesting story.
I like how all the characters and stories are coming together more this season rather than seperate storylines. -

Apart from the odd clip here and there online I haven't watched these in years and it's a bit of a mixed bag. Some of the sketches are very witty, and I love their cerebral humour. Some of it is awful though. Still the epsisodes are short and fit in nicely when I've got spare half hour.
3-9/10 depending on the sketch -
To my great surprise I've found I'm quite enjoying that other adaptation of War of the Worlds. Well, more accurately that unrelated TV show that just happens to have that name for some reason.
