Larry navigates his way through the Weinstein effect, opens a spite store, and makes every blunder and faux pas you'd expect.
Honestly, the formula for Curb is so perfect I don't really think they can mess it up.

Decent. Has a few up and downs but I mostly enjoyed it. It really nice to be around characters you grew up with and realising how much they mean to you whilst doing so. There’s some nice character stuff in here for those characters even if the overall series was a bit uneven. But glad I watched it

I think the previous poster and myself are amongst the few people that enjoyed itI'll confess that part of the enjoyment came from the online rage it triggered. It does have its issues with some silly moments, and some weak supporting characters, but once it gained momentum it was a fun watch. I did enjoy the cthulhu-esq AIs emerging from the wormhole and I'd like to see more of them. Roll on a second season.

A brilliantly mental Netflix documentary series about a group of tiger keeping zoo owners in the USA. Almost every single person in it is batshit insane and if I hadn't read a few news articles I'd be convinced it was actually a mocumentary! -

The show isn’t without it flaws but it’s enjoyable. Seems to be getting a harder time on message boards like here and resetera than it is on Facebook posts and general people I work with.

Registered 17 years ago@JoelStinty I get that some people hold the original shows in high regard (I'm a fan of most Star Trek, even Enterprise to a certain extent), but they couldn't just rehash TNG for a modern audience and I liked the changed in direction, if not the whole of the execution. Here's hoping for more. -

Registered 18 years agoI thought Picard was largely okay. It does seem a lot of people are making it out to be completely terrible but I didn't think it was that bad though I could criticise plenty of stuff. -

Registered 8 years agoPicard was far from terrible but it really needed to be tightened up. There were little plot threads that petered out for absolutely no reason. Some of these felt like they would have enriched the extended cast and gave us a reason to care more about them and their motives.
Also, the TNG characters that returned felt woefully underused. But it was an entertaining story, which has left some potentially interesting directions for it to go with should it return. I would welcome some more, just refine it a lot. -

My favourite show of all time. Lance Henrikson and supporting cast are great. It has a real sense of brooding menace with a fascinating story. Great theme tune and auddio, and some real evil. Love it.

Yep agree with all of this. Absolute rollercoaster of a doc. America just feels lawless. It’s the new Wild West.

Also worth returning to the Louis Theroux: America’s Most Dangerous Pets documentary that heavily featured Joe Exotic - albeit before the events captured in Tiger King. He seemed to have his shit together fractionally more back then. You’ve got to wonder when he started to seriously lose it.

It does slide down through each series, I did enjoy them all, but the first is the classic. We don't talk about the X Files crossover.

This one sucked me in by accident - clicked on the wrong show on Amazon, then realised it was the old feller from Homeland as the lead and then it hooked meIt's very formulaic, but it does manage to vary the investigations up nicely. The team work well together, although they are all walking and talking cliches. They also do quite a clever job of representing quite horrific crimes without devolving into gore or torture porn.
Now straight onto season 2.

Really great stuff, much better than the book. It does share a problem with the book though, in that a bit of the tension goes out of the story when it goes "oh, a monster did it". Admittedly, I don't know how you can solve a mystery of someone literally being in two places at the same time without the supernatural being involved somehow. But the show was stronger as a mystery, less strong as supernatural horror.
Still, recommended.

Im kind of in two minds about it. The first episode was amazing and the second wasnt far behind. But it really span its wheels for a good chunk of the mid-section and almost lost me, but it really came good in the end. I kept thinking 'they must have got Paddy Consadine in for *some* reason..'.

Registered 9 years agoYeah, that's fair. It did coast quite a bit on the goodwill generated by the first couple of episodes. But they were good enough to carry it through for me.
Helps that the thing is only one season, and they're not obliged to shit out more content like, say, Broadchurch. -

Trip to Greece - 7/10. The bantz and impressions are still as good as ever, and it looked amazing. Great food, great scenery etc, but I found the artificial "persona and life outside" a bit artificial. Especially Steve's dad storyline. We know it's not his dad, why should we care?!
