Yeah Succession 1 & 2 both top drawer. Looking forward to more. Have it 10/10 on here before.

Been watching Power, as I subbed to Starz to watch Spartacus, even though someone on here said not to bother. It's not really my type of show, but actually been a good watch, with plenty of edge of your seat moments.
Some stupid stuff, forced sex scenes every episode because it's Starz, the most unprofessional police force ever, and plenty of plot holes. But still a fun watch with some damn crazy characters. A 7 or 8 for me.

It's like they forgot what made the first seasons good.

This season they spend 7 episodes doing fuck all and then rush everything into the final ep.
Good, glad it's not just me that thought it sucked. It's running at 80% on Tomatoes!! Mad.

I was happy to bin it off but the lady is one of those "we started so we'll finish" types, even though we'd only watched 3 episodes.

It was an episode of Criminal minds stretched out into 8.

It's kinda cheesy, schmaltzy, very formulaic and probably completely romanticises Autism, but I recently watched the first three series of the Good Doctor and really enjoyed it.

And maybe I'm getting soft in my old age, too, bu almost every single episode in the first season was like a gut punch. It seemed to get very dusty in my house. Thankfully from season 2 onwards, I managed to keep my shit together.

Never got round to watching this before, I was a lot busier 15 years ago.

    The Sopranos, series 1

Like eating a really good meal, having a nice pair of tits rubbed in your face then getting a 2 grand tax rebate the next morning. You get the picture.

    10/10

Ah man, you're in for a treat if this is your first time watching it. One of the greatest shows ever.

Aye, I get the feeling at that. I've just suscribed to NowTv so have access to all those HBO dramas I've heard about. Good times 🙂

    Umbrella Academy

I bounced off this quite quickly when I first tried it, but I'm glad I gave it another try as it clicked this time. One of the weirder superhero shows (although not quite as mental as the wonderful Legion) with a diverse and interesting range of characters. In some ways you can see the mistakes they're going to make a mile off, but you don't blame them for it it. And there's still so much of the world to discover, so looking forward to the next season.

    8/10

Trafford, The Soprano's is pretty much one of the best things I've ever watched.

    Enjoy.

I also finished it for the first time this year (the whole thing, not just season 1) and I absolutely loved it.

We do this regularly, but The Sopranos is absolutely the best there's ever been. Followed by The Wire and Breaking Bad. But The Sopranos is just so good.

I prefer The Wire personally but The Sopranos is nothing short of sublime. Lucky bastard for seeing it for the first time!

Oh and RIP James Gandolfini. It has been said before but can't be said enough.

I think I must be one of the few people who doesn't entirely love The Sopranos. No doubt, it's a well made, greatly written and acted show but every character is so despicable and horrible that I found it hard to care what happens to anyone.
Also, any section that involved his kids, especially his weird looking son just made me want to fast forward every time.

I think that's it brilliance though. You know they are horrible fucks, but I did care about them. Looking forward to the prequel film, based on Johnny Boy and Uncle Ju. Gandolfini's son plays a young Tony.

I guess that was the hook/USP. Tony balancing his family life with his world outside.
Personally I love it. I'm on season 2 now and Janice has just returned from the west coast, she's lovely 😎

Yeah, spot on. Tony needing therapy, having mother issues and getting panic attacks from seeing ducks just makes him real. That's the whole point of the show really: truly evil dudes being just as human as anyone else, with real people issues.

I do agree on the son though, he was truly annoying. Which still leaves me to wonder whether that was the whole point to begin with...

I found AJ much more annoying as an adult. And you will tire of Janice's schtick too enough!

I suppose it is just a personal thing. I find these mafia types just revolting humans doing terrible things with no empathy. Contrasted with a normal person with real feelings doing terrible things for whatever reason or a good person being utterly corrupted are two examples I just find far more compelling and am able to engage in..

    @creepiest-lizard

    a) I wasn't being earnest earlier
    b) I get your point, I do believe it's very much a marmite show. I see how the creators wanted to make bad dudes seem human but I can also understand how that doesn't work for everyone. It did for me, it didn't for you.

And entirely unrelated: my fave is Band of Brothers. Now there's a series and a half.

Once I finish The Wire, I get to go through Sopranos first time too. Fuck you all :-)

Side note - the Beeb have decided to start showing Heroes again. That started with so much promise but got decimated by the writers' strike and never recovered.

I thought Heroes was ok the first time round (although did lose it towards the end), but tried rewatching it and disliked it.
