Free streaming service remember. You can sub (£3.99 a month) to remove the ads.

    The Forest - Netflix

Implausible but entertaining French disappearance/mystery/whodunit set in a village on the edge of a forest. Well acted but a bit predictable in some respects.

Good escapism for pandemic watching. Enjoyed how French it all is, and made a nice change from British/American/Scandi crime stuff.

    7/10

I use ITVHub to watch AEW Dynamite and theyíve inserted extra ad breaks on top of the frequent ones the original American broadcast had

Its like every five minutes and almost no match or interview goes the distance without being interupted by another break
I've noticed if you play all the ads once then go back it doesn't load the ads again. Ad free watching..

The most cuntish thing is the sky go app removing the volume control from the player when adverts are on so you canít just mute them.

I often find All4 will crash going into or coming out of an ad break. Then when you restart it itíll play one set of ads for launching a show followed immediately by the ad break it failed during so you get double ads. And often theyíre the same block of ads too.

All4 is the absolute worst, terrible piece of software.

I have no problem with it on my Kindle..apart from the fact we have to actually "watch" adverts on most of their output. I watched Man down on Netflix :)

It's free though. I don't mind it. They gotta make some revenue. Now Sky Go... That costs a fortune AND had adverts. All Murdoch products just seem entirely optimised to bleed every last droplet of money out of the experience.

Ha... Another example. They probably calculated removing the button would make them another £100 per year so away with it.

God bless NTL's digital on-demand service back in the day. Instant playback, no adverts. Definitely seems like we've gone a step back there.

And then we complete the loop by circling back to morons who want to strip the Beeb of its funding despite it being an OG, pioneering streaming platform and with no adverts.

And they even made the volume control go up to eleven.

Its weird how all of these free thinking patriots now want to #defundthebbc. If they werent too smart for that, I would almost say they were all being told what to think

Agreed. They are bobbins but at least free.

Schitt's Creek S3. 8/10. Just lovely. Didn't even realise the season had ended, no drama, just some well rounded, nice characters sprinkled with a few laugh out loud moments. Catherine O'Hara is just sublime.

    The Mandalorian S02
Better than S01 that's for sure. It even manages some actual interesting moments where they let the empire make their case and question the rebels. There was also a nice bit where Manto takes on a bunch of freedom fighters.

But, I wouldn't watch this if it wasn't for my kids absolutely loving it. I just don't find it very interesting.

Extremely well made though and I think Disney deserves praise for that.

    The Wire (S3)

A damn fine season. McNulty took the threat from Ziggy in the previous series and upped his assholery to a new level. I did enjoy the Hamsterdam storyline and the associated fallout, and the key investigations remain spot on.

    11/10

    Blackpool (2004)

David Morrissey and David Tennant star in this musical comedy murder mystery where they break into song every now and then over the original records playing in the background.

It doesn't work on paper but in reality is ace. Six, 1 hour episodes in total and a sequel film which I'll watch at the weekend. 9/10.

    Winter Walks

5, 30 minute episodes on BBC4/iPlayer where a different person each time goes for a walk around the Yorkshire Dales or Cumbria.

No soundtrack, just the walker on their own with a 360 camera, talking to themselves. Really nice and relaxing and making me wish I was local to do one of those walks.

    10/10

Been working through Staged series 2 and it's really lost a lot of the magic from the first. It thinks it's being meta but it's just become a version of Extras with a game of "who can we get in this week?".

I'll finish it but really cannot be arsed.

    The Morning Show - 9/10

On paper this sounds like something I would rather claw my own eyeballs out than watch: #MeToo is examined in the context of a plucky young journalist played by Reese Witherspoon who is thrust into the limelight of a cut-throat US daytime TV show.

But... it was actually extremely good! The writing was kinda Sorkin-esque, the cast is stellar (particularly Billy Crudup who was delightful), it's often very funny (though sometimes also a bit overly dramatic or sentimental) and it manages to actually communicate a pretty nuanced discussion of sexual misconduct in the workplace.

    Vikings - final series 6/10

Given all the circmstances not a terrible job, but a long way off earlier series. More whimper than bang, but only a bit.

    The Queens Gambit

Bit late to this one but can see what all the fuss is about. Expertly created show with stunning production values and excellent performances all round.

Definitely worth your time, regardless of your feelings on chess.

    9/10

Wholeheartedly disagree. Loved it, full of pathos. To each their own and all that though!
