    Didn't like this episode.

Slash bit was pretty cool....but no laughs in this episode.

Cartman as a Slave Owner was epic!

Yeah, Cartman as the plantation owner was pretty great, as was Stan's non-reaction to Kyle's attempts to justify himself, but in general the episode was too on the nose in its moralising and didn't get enough laughs to make up for it.

Since the end of Community, Parks & Rec and Chuck, I've started covering South Park on my blog if anyone's interested in reading my full review.

Love the evolution of Cartman from angry fat kid who gets shit from his mates, to creepy evil kid, who his friends tolerate merely because he's an absolute sociopath who doesn't give them any choice in the matter. T.M.I was funny.
Crack Babies wasn't as good, but the Kyle-Stan-Cartman dynamic was good.
Disappointed not to have seen much from Kenny, who was awesome in the Cthulhu episodes..

Cartman is one of the best developed characters on screen. It's easy to watch the odd episode and conclude he is nothing more than a little bastard, but if you watch them all they are great at painting a picture of him. Especially the episodes with his mum. It's the same with all the characters tbh, something MacFarlane can only dream of with his constantly growing cast.

Saw the Royal Wedding one last night...the wedding scenes were brilliant :-D

God - that marks the season break as well. I wonder if they're actually going to end it.

    Roll on October.

Uncharacteristically serious tone there. Are changes coming?

Wow, pretty interesting way to end the (mid)season. Even though it wasn't all that funny, it was one of the more focused episodes in recent years, which I definitely appreciated.

    Here's my review.

What a Frank and honest commentary on the show!
They're only contracted until the end of this series and really they could leave it there!

Let it die I think. Maybe some films. But the guys need a breather.

Fuck me I actually found that episode slightly upsetting. Pretty obvious how they're feeling, and the end shot with Kyle and Cartman is probably the most stark image they have had in 15 years and speaks to me that the end is nigh. Stan was always the centre of the group and always represented the writing team's feelings (while the rest of the cast made up the story and or set up).

South Park is the best thing on TV and and has been for the past 15 years so I'll be gutted if that is the end but at the same time it may be for the best.

I'd rather it end than go the way of the Simpsons/Family's already on that slippery slope

The last 2 season halves have been pretty bad overall. The ending there was very strange.

Simply the strangest episode I've ever seen.

Can't agree that it's been "bad" as of late, but it's certainly lacked something so far this season. The previous 2 were generally decent with a few notable highlights.

That was something... Ive been watching South Park for more than 10 years now and while I think this season has been very weak, seeing that we could be coming to an end is a bit sad.
  • Deleted user 9 June 2011 22:24:01
I remember reading a while ago that they wouldn't go past season 15. So I guess they may just be making their feelings known. Whether that means we are going to see a massive falling out and contractual dispute over the summer or they are going to bow out gracefully with the rest of the season, I dunno.

Love, love, love South Park. :(
  • Deleted user 9 June 2011 22:26:55
That was a strange episode, for sure. I always kinda presumed South Park would be around forever! Still, it is South Park, so they may well resolve this week's story when the show returns, in a heartwarming and/or gross way.

Wow just watched, can't say I was expecting the mid season to end like that!

I think it was, like others have said, very honest. I wouldn't be suprised if they did just end it at that, though I expect they'll finish the series. Still something of a big turning point regardless of what happens from now.
  • Deleted user 10 June 2011 23:22:45
I read they wanted to end on a massive high, even a second movie, anyway that episode was sad, made me want to watch a few old episodes and the movie for nostalgia.

The newer espidoes were on the slippery slope for the past couple of seasons, the older ones seem to have more effort and clever storylines, and more characters like Jesus, Ned & Jimbo, Barbrady and of course Chef appearing in most episodes, I much prefer that old school South Park and can rewatch those old episodes over and over.
