Thought I'd just post this as I've come across it and think it looks interesting to say the least. http://www.terraria.org/ Also found a Let's Play of it on Youtube done by either the dev or one of the testers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Udp5ozoYfxM |

Registered 20 years agoManaged to resist the leak but have watched far too many hours of play on youtube. Guessing the leak lead to the early release for damage limitation. -

Eh, kinda tempted. -
Been playing it for about 20 minutes so far and I think I love it. The art style and sense of adventure is great. -
Yep, picked it up shortly after it came out this evening and have to say it's far too much fun and a cracking little game. Already met my first rare, 'Pinky' and had my arse handed to me : -

Is there a way to stop things spawning underground with lights or is it just a matter of killing things? -

I think they spawn from dirt. -
I seem to be developing a habit of digging drainage tunnels in caves to allow myself to explore, only to flood the next area on my agenda. Lots of fun so far. -
Hmmm, '20 mins before bed' and I'm still awake at 3am :/
Ajay - have the same problem as you, keep clearing only to find I'm running ahead of myself. Picked up a couple of nice items from chest so far but no luck on getting some mats for my grappling hook : -
If an eccentric billionaire decided to create a theme park populated by live dinosaurs by combining the DNA of long-dead beasts with that of modern amphibians, except some lab prankster messed the order up and substituted the genetic material of a Metroidvania species and Minecraft, this is what would be chasing around the park devouring the guests.
I like it a lot.
Getting deeper now, and I'm having to dig my way through a lot more. I suspect that's because I seem to be having bad luck with the aforementioned lakes and I'm having to go around them, though I'm pretty certain I've just breached into a new layer... -

Had a couple of runs at [spoilers]Eye of Cthulhu[/spoilers] with no joy so far, just can't do enough damage. :<
Damned addictive games. *shakes fist* -

Registered 19 years agoI started a small map and well, it's not really that small at all. I think I may have to start mapping my tunnels. I've got a clear route down to a mushroom plot so I have plenty of healing. I should be close to the lava layer soon, there be lots of gold down there.
I have an enhanced boomerang* and a grappling hook, silver and gold tools and silver and iron armour, but the only accessories I have are two manacles. Found 1 extra heart and have 2 mana stars even though I have no magical items.
I'm also building a tower because there are apparently floating islands to find too.
*Two actually, both found in chests. -

Registered 11 years agoSolo or multiplayer. Can use same character across both as far as I'm aware. -
Oh, the launch trailer btw: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=w7uOhFTrrq0
Yes, characters and items are consistent across worlds so if you want to go back to scratch, you have to create a new character (Currently 5 slots).
Solo and MP as Poontash said, very easy jump in and play capability and played with some of the guys from the Terraria IRC channel - although most of the community are pre-pubescent/teenaged scum so best to steer clear.
Be nice to get a game going with you guys, fairly sure some MP Building-Metroidvania hilarity would ensue. -

Registered 11 years agoI'd recommend reading the Wiki too. I was a bit lost for the first 30min or so but after realising how big the game was (or wide, or tall) and how many items there were to find/craft it's really stuck it's hook in.
I want a lightsabre damn it! -

That's 'Phase Blade' please
Trying not to look at the crafting as I like the surprise of flicking through the build list once I've returned from adventuring and find something new. Depth Meter was an awesome example of this.
