Registered 13 years agoI thought it was better than last week. Very Brooker rant, ensconced in a sweet/sad cautionary tale. -

Registered 16 years agoYeah, first thing I thought was "This is just The Island, isn't it?"
Thought it was quite good. Amazing performance by whoever that main bloke was. Bit slow to get going and a bit heavy handed, but kicked the arse of just about anything else on telly. -

Registered 16 years agoThat was rather good. And yeah, the main actor did a great job. -

Registered 13 years agoI liked that a lot.
The main actor did a good job in the recent Johnny English film too I thought, despite it being mostly a load of cack in general. Might it have been that, Billy?

Registered 14 years agoMuch prefered this weeks episode over the one with the pig, it just seemed a bit more focused and better paced.
Where as last week there seemed to be no real story between the first 5 minutes and the end credits. It didn't seem to know whether to go for the "no secrets on the internet" or "idiot public have no idea what they want" satirical angle, so every aspect of the story just felt underdeveloped. Strange considering it dragged on a bit.
This episode really benefitted from the extra focus storywise, and it felt a lot more like an episode of the Twilight Zone at the end. Just what I was expecting from this series when I first heard about it. Brilliant stuff. -

Registered 18 years agoYeah, I actually managed to get through this one whereas I found last weeks a bit too uncomfortable and unpleasant to enjoy. Like most dystopian stories, I'm generally more interested in how it all happened more than anything. Obviously I get the meaningless crap TV/Xbox bit (new dash suddenly makes more sense!) but I'm curious as to why everyone ended up in these big prison-like power stations. Are there loads of people starving 'outside' because they said "bugger that for a laugh!"? -

Registered 19 years agoMissed last week, but thought that was great. It had a good hard dig at so many cultural norms. -

Registered 13 years agoYou can watch the first one on 4oD if you can put up with the horrible fullscreen UI (I know people like to whinge when websites change but the latest iteration really is horrible, with the stupid display that never fucks off) -

This is what I mean, it doesn't go away on full screen and just sits there obscuring a bit of the show and being annoying. Can't find a way to remove it or make it fuck off when your mouse is idle or anything

Registered 13 years agoOh. It's being a total bastard for me on both Chrome and Firefox. I caught the second episode on TV, but I had to watch the first one online and it drove me nuts. It'll probably turn out to be something really obvious and stupid -

Registered 16 years agoI had no problems with the 4OD viewer. Maybe your mouse isn't staying in a neutral position where it is now?

Lol, I also hoped that was his plan. Perhaps he could've started an uprising/revolution doing that with everyone watching.

Registered 15 years agoi didn't dislike this week but i did find it a bit of a pointless story, almost like he'e preaching to the choir now. it didn't have much of a point other than how the intoxicating power of being picked up from the proletariat and given a position of power and authority will inhibit your rage against the machine which has seen fit to giving you a better life. as i saw someone post on twitter, this almost feels like brookers apology letter to his fans for "selling out", not that i think for one second that he has but hopefully you get the point.
i agree with Scimarad; some more information about the outside world would perhaps have given me more sympathy for the characters, as it was it was a glossy, fairly entertaining 1984 with a playstation upgrade and a nicer ending. -

i liked the quite pointed way that it was clear a revolution was never on the cards; those 5 seconds between the end of bings (great naming btw!) tirade and the simon-cowell-alike taking back control of the situation was a great example of how those satiated with shite on the telly will never have the wherewithall to actually stand up and demand more and better, plus it was a good way of showing that those within media have too much power; they can't be beaten.
