@Aargh. Not necessarily features but I just find the gameplay of Diablo III more to my liking. The amount of skills available to you is pretty amazing compared to Torchlight but it's really just the second to second click / kill I find more rewarding in Diablo and since that's what the game is based around, I feel they got that right, much as it's ever popular to hate the game. The more ARPG's the better, this latest batch all have things to offer and it's good to see this genre being resurrected. |

Registered 13 years agoAgain torchlight 2 offers far more than diablo 3 offers simply because they allow mods. Torchlight 2 becomes infinitely expandable as a result.
As a result torchlight 2 will offer far more than diablo 3 ever will. -

Registered 9 years agoI appreciate what you're saying and it's really good that Runic made it so malleable, it's something that the new Diablo is lacking. The point I guess I was trying to make is that the second to second gameplay of clicking / killing is just more satisfying to me in Diablo, much as I love some of the touches that Torchlight has brought to the table. -

Registered 15 years agoHow's everyone finding the classes and specialisations?
I favour my embermage with dual wands and prismatic bolts. Considering switching to the "unliiimiteeed poooooweeeeer" lightning spell though until I unlock them ricocheting bolts in the lightning tree.
The constant kiting can be a bit tedious but otherwise it's massive fun.
Three small niggles thusfar: the occasional tendency to want to finish animations before responding to a command, toons running up to enemies to cast spells (e.g. skeleton too) unless shift is held makes number key bound spells a bit unwieldy and I wish I had an indication when buffs and summons are active (e.g. skeleton again) because it can become hard to spot in the heat of battle. Nothing a mod can't fix though
I also don't quite get along with melee classes due to the amount of enemies with knockback but perhaps I need to get used to the playstyle a bit more. -

Sound similar to me.
With the right skills you can go toe to toe with most nasties - the beserker has some really good passive skills -

Registered 13 years agoBeen playing the demo on my laptop and really enjoying it. Knocked most settings down to low to get a nice slick framerate.
*However*
The machine is getting really f***ing hot. Like proper scalding fry an egg type hot. I've only really played low system requirement games that I get from Humble Bundles prior to this on it so don't know if this is normal or potentially dangerous for the life of my computer... -
I.... have no answer to that question.
Haven't noticed any odd/bad effects on my fairly-low-end i3 laptop. Install one of those gadgets that reports on chip temperatures, etc. perhaps? See what that says? -
An extremely hot computer is going to reduce the life of your machine. It isn't dangerous though. -

Registered 13 years agoThat's integrated graphics too isn't it Blerk? The fan is going mental; my wife couldn't believe the sound it was making ("if you're going to be making that much noise you can play it in the kitchen").
The computer would tell me if it didn't like it, right? -

Yeah, that's just whatever-piece-of-Intel-shit-is-built-into-the-chip. I haven't even noticed the fans running more than usual, tbh. I'm usually sitting at the dining table for maximum mousage, though. Our table might be 'real cold'.

Started a new engineer and specced it somewhat differently, also I was more thorough and did more sidequests - boss battles with my first engineer were a war of attrition and I just wasn't doing enough damage.
Still a bit miffed that quest rewards are only ever 2-handers, often 3 of them. Sword and board engineers get ignored.
Silly question time: do mobs ever respawn? -

I've seen them respawn in at least the external areas, but it's taken a good while.
My Engineer is set up for single-handed swords too, but I've gone the hand-gun route for the second hand rather than the shield.
Quest rewards have generally been a bit rubbish throughout though, regardless of whether I can use them or not. I'm getting far better kit out of boss chests and then enchanting the crap out of it and adding as many sockets to it as I can. Seems to work out very nicely. -

Probably never, from what they've said recently. Seems like they think they'd have trouble squashing it in there. -

For what it's worth, you can get it running nicely on the crappiest of computers. Although you may end up recreating the China Syndrome if you're Murbal. -

Registered 7 years agoThe Artificier is the toughest boss fight I have had so far.Had to lure him in and make him battle where I wanted him to battle.
Love the zerg of tiny bugs that swarm towards you in some dungeons, and watching them all suffer crit damage brings a smile to your face.
I am not hammering this only doing overland exploration and then one dungeon a game session. And these dungeons are slowly getting bigger. -

Registered 7 years agoJust did the room with the three Giant Slime blobs.Does not sound like much, but when they keep giving birth to other blobs. And these blobs also have smaller blobs, you are in for one manic battle in close confines.Died twice but so very glad I saw it through and witnessed the horde of a reward that appeared.
Went up two levels in that battle alone. -

Getting near the end now, I think. Act 3 is lovely, after the somewhat plain looking Act 2.
I am a bit unstoppable though, and have been for ages. After a few problems many, many hours ago, the game has become progressively easier. 90% of my deaths where within 4 or 5 of my (character) levels (veteran difficulty).
Not that anyone really seems to care, I only see Blerk playing occasionally. :-/ -

I wish I had a bit more time to play, tbh. But I'm trying to juggle Borderlands 2 as well.
I guess this way it'll last longer, though. Right? -

Registered 13 years agoI've just defeated the King in Masks... bloody hell these dungeons are getting a bit long for me! They don't keep getting longer do they? I don't mind them being tough (which not one actually has been) but I don't like the tedium of seemingly never-ending dungeons. -
