The characters look out of place, what's wrong with the world? I always thought the entire environment matched the characters in WW?

Whoever decided on a timer for 3D Mario World should be shot... it ruins any ounce of genuine open exploration the game has, which for me is what 3D Mario games have always been about. I get what you're saying but I never really found it to be an issue as you get plenty of time. There were times I'd forget about it and be exploring when I'd hear the "Quick! You only have 100 seconds left!" music which would result in a mad dash to the end. I kind of liked it, but when they do make the next "proper" 3D Mario game I doubt it'll have a timer and be better for it.

This,the only time I even noticed the timer was on later levels where it's specifically part of the challenge.

It's pretty much just for a score bonus most of the time. You're unlikely to run out of time, and that includes times where a mid-level "I'm going to throw you in the lava!" trolling session breaks out.

bit gutted the USA MK8 offer only includes a choice of 1 out of 4 games, rather than 1 out of 10 Europeans get. And I don't think Super Mario Kart (SNES) is on VC there yet (even if the USA version is the one Europe has) so I can't get that for free (well, with the 5.49 discount on MK8)
On the plus side - I just downloaded Super Metroid VC for free, and last month got Super Mario World for the same (free) price! loving the Coins club in USA compared to the crappy Star Catalogue in Europe...

@elhozzo Oh you mock, but I'm just a couple of games away from claiming my pack of free Mario playing cards (sigh...).

While investigating the MK8 discount on the eshop I stumbled into my first ever Nintendo Direct video. What a truly bizzare experience. With its frequent title cards, laconic voiceover and earnest tone, it felt like watching a late night Open University lecture from 20 years ago.

@andy10 The MK8 Direct is not a standard Direct, it was very strange compared to all the rest (bar Tomadachi Life's). Seems to be the direction they're going with them atm though so it might become the norm soon.

@MatMan562 I'll have to check out some of the others. Don't get me wrong - it makes an interesting change from the non-stop in-your-face promotional material I'm used to seeing, but still... odd.

@andy10 ... I have my eye on those cards too (have a European 3DS ... wonderful to have different region machines when region-locked - its going to bite me at some point)
actually, can't use my credit card on USA eshop (not really a surprise) so off to search for the USA cards ...

Guys, has the white Wii U pro controller not be released in the UK? Can't seem to find it on most major retail sites...but seems to be widely available in the States.

It shouldn't cost that much. The pro controller is usually 30 quid. Amazon had it close to twenty a few months after launch.

So Nintendo apparently know what the successor to the WiiU will be. But they are waiting until WiiU owners are 'satisfied'.

It's going to be a looooooong wait.

Nintendo have noticeably cut back on development for their platforms when they reach their third year on the market since the Gamecube.

The Wii U has got to buck that trend though, it's already had the release droughts.

I can't see a Wii U successor coming out for at least 3 years... slim chance of late 2016 if we're lucky, but probably end of 2017. I genuinely hope they kick Iwata out before development on the new console gets serious.

I just hope that they're planning ahead and already getting/ planning some games for the next console's launch/ first year. How they do that whilst also making games for the Wii U and 3DS I don't know though.

I don't think the Japanese do that sort of thing. They're more likely to just give him a "promotion" which sort of pushes him to the side while new talent is brought in. I hope they do.
