dam, this is slow. -
I bought a new Mac very recently (which is registered with my Apple ID and all that), I thought I was supposed to get the Lion upgrade for free- at least, that's what I was told at the time. But It's showing as full-price on the app store, even though I'm logged in with the same Apple ID that my new Mac is registered to.
Anyone managed to figure out how to get their free upgrade? -

Registered 16 years agoMission Control makes window / app management a lot easier, I like the new Mail app and the two-finger swipe left/right for Back/Forward in Safari is nice and fast.
The silly launcher and reversed scrolling can nick off tho'. -
Bit annoyed that the multitouch gestures aren't as advanced as BetterTouchTool which I've been using for two years. -

Registered 15 years agoHeh, downloaded but now it won't install complaining that my system drive should be GUID and is MBR. WTF??? I'd recently had my drive replaced in an Apple service centre; who would have thought the computer would come back with a MBR formatted drive?
Which now basically means I have to do a full backup, reinstall Snow Leopard, restore the backup and only then install Lion. Fucking hell!
Edit: maybe it won't be so bad; making an install DVD now. -
Ehhh, how do I burn Lion to a disk? No idea what I'm doing with disk burning, only burnt a simple data disk on my mbp. -

I know I'm answering my own question, but there's a small chance there's someone else as dim as me out there, so I thought I should post the link in case anyone needs it. -

Registered 20 years agoHave to install Java to play Minecraft as it's not installed as part of Lion. It's all done for you when you launch a Java program so it's not too much of a pain. -

Do you always have to pay for Mac OS updates? I've not got a Mac so I wouldn't know. -
Hmm, I don't like that they've changed the text on the sidebar of finder and mail to giant retard-o-font. -

Really like Mission Control and how Spaces is integrated now.
How can I show a handy list/bar of all active programs? The bar with the big icons in the middle of the screen where you could directly close apps. Was done with a 4-finger left swipe . -
cmd+tab -
Cheers! -
Lion Server is £34.99, quite a bargain that. -

Page forward and back is 2 finger instead of three and has a nice animation.
2 or 3 fingers sideswipe seems to do the same thing, no? -

Yup. Is very nice.
I'd like to see two changes tho':
Cursor-key navigation of open apps & windows so I don't have to grab the mouse/trackpad just to choose;
the ability to mouse / cursor-over individual windows owned by an app - on mouse-over that window should pop to the front so I can see its contents.
Other than that, I love it. -
Damn hotel connection. It'll take 2 days to D/L on here
