Fucking hell. No they are supporting the iPad one but as soon as the iPad 3 comes out they will.
When you say supporting you mean they may not continue putting in their latest 'features' etc. onto it, not that they will stop will stop supporting it with security updates and the like I take it?

Yes. Everything. Owners of the iPhone 2 and 3G no longer receive security updates as the phone is deliberately no longer compatible with the firmware bundle they pump out for it. Eventually this will happen to the iPad 1.

Fanforce? For having an opinion? If I was a 'fanforce' member I'd have an iPhone. If I was a 'fanforce' member I'd have the latest Apple tech in all things...thats what they do, isnt it? Blindly follow the word of St. Steven?

Another great thing about Apple is that'd eu an ban Apps and then steal their ideas and release them as Os upgrades. The ability to take a
Picture using the volume button was deemed too confusing for apple users and banned in a third party app. Now it's being heralded as a "really cool thing" when apple incorporates it in iOS5.

The Apple are cunts thought holds water.

Being able to use something and it being obsoleted by a company are two very different things.

One of the key differences being that one is the thing im talking about and the other is something im not but still being argued about by someone with downs.

You think this concept is unique to Apple? I've had this with other tech firms....iRiver for example. They stopped issuing firmware for their HDD mp3 players after about 1 year. It took Rockbox to step in and develop for it. I've also had it with Humax and Samsung PVRs.

Another amazing new feature in iOS5 is that YOU DON'T HAVE TO CONNECT IT TO A PC TO GET YOU PHONE OR TABLET RUNNING. Geewizz someone call NOKIA, this is just pure brilliance!

iPhone's are brilliantly supported imo. Buy one within a couple of months of launch, you're top of the food chain for the first year, you get a significant update the 2nd year. Third year, it still works well enough for most people, but for the geeks amongst us you realise you're the red headed step child and Apple hates you. So, you resell it for a high price - in my case, on contract, I typically splash £250 on it initially, then sell it for the same or more 2 years later, and get the latest model. Please show me a better supported phone, I'm be interested to see it!

As for laptops, my 3 y/o unibody mbp is still going strong, could still pass for almost new, specs aside. Good luck with the typical 3 y/o placky laptop.

Laptop prior to that, a 3 y/o white mb, I sold to a mate and it runs Snow Leopard very well - not bad for a 6 y/o laptop. No yellowing or cracks either, but I think that's just extremely good fortune in this case :)

Point being, any whining about Apple being the worst offenders about forcing upgrades etc is just an admission that you're a sucker for marketing and one upping the Jones'.

That said, Apple most certainly are c*nts in other respects....just like every other company vying for the contents of your wallet.

Mmmm, most do try to be honest. Just very few do it so well.

What do you mean by "religion", db? I know the've got some rabid fans, but what have Apple done to actively promote "religious faith" in themselves?
  • Deleted user 15 June 2011 12:35:05
In all seriousness I don't think I've received a brief in the last five years that didn't mention Apple. They are the absolute benchmark for branding in every sector.

I still use a 10-year-old G4 Powerbook and an iPhone 3GS. They still manage to do most of the things I need from them, although I'm getting a new Macbook Pro this year as the Powerbook is starting to show its age. I don't think I would have got ten years out of any other setup (without constantly upgrading components).

They've done an amazing job of marketing, innovation and product design. Let's face it, the iPhone 3G is still better than any other non apple phone at being a phone, I still use my 3GS (without iTunes, fuck that malware).

They are cunts though, for the reasons argued for.

Waht do you mean by this? I agree that the iPhone is a great little gadget, but in terms of being a "phone", that reliably makes and receives calls - it's the worst one I've ever owned. And that opinion is pretty commonplace.
