Diwali Mubarak, friends, hope yours was as good as ours: outrageous quantities of my mother-in-law's very finest cooking, plenty of alcohol, presents for the kids, and fireworks out in the back garden. Great stuff. :)

Imagine someone on the indiagamer.net forum asking "hm, what is Christmas?" and you'll have your answer.

(or alternatively just read back a few posts ;p)

If I forget I get the slaughtered!

There were plenty of fireworks round here.

It's based on the Lunar calender, not solar. Hence the jumping around. It never happens in may though. I have no idea why this bumped in may.

Late October early November that's when you look out for it. Often coincides with the 5th of November.

Sparklers are much better now that you can get ones that are as big as lightsabers.

Heheh, yeah that's about right. Rama (incarnation of Vishnu) and his brother Lakshman are out hunting, the demon Lanka goes to their house and nicks Rama's wife Sita. Rama is not a happy bunny, heads off for the demon's island home in (you guessed it) Sri Lanka, picks up the Monkey God Hanuman and his army en route, and knocks seven shades of shit out of the demon army before coming home with Sita in triumph. All the candles are put out to welcome the couple home.
