Its an ok control method as a novelty but, in the same way as pad vs keyboard, the best wiimote player would get ruined by the best pad player.

    Any evidence of this?

Yes. Ive probably given goldeneye wii probably an equal amount of time with the classic pad and the spackwand. If I played myself, the pad me would destroy the spackwand me.

MK Wii actually gives you a reward for persevering through the game with the tilt controls.

Goldeneye needs about 2 hours worth of fucking about with the controls to get 'em going nicely.

Prime 3 however has ace controls.

I've got a gun peripheral and when you point it at the screen, the cursor is never where you aim - because it's a mouse pointer and not a proper gun. This is what makes it shit because instead of pointing at what you want to die you're looking at a fuckity fuckface cursor. The Wiimote has to be the least fun controller to use this gen, even the new versions. The arcadey pads you can get are nice enough but iirc (haven't played it in a bit) you have to plug the cunt into a Wiimote. All that money and you still need to have a white turd anchor.

I'd rather twin sticks over any of the motion control options on offer right now. That or introduce kb and m options in console games.

Pointers are a million times better than dual analogue.
I'm currently playing GL2 on 360 and GoldenEye on Wii, the difference in controls isn't subtle.

Maybe it is better with the wiimote but anything vaguely pointy-shooty related on Move hasn’t been a positive experience. Or even just pointy like Flight Control.

You have to move the Move, wait and look on screen to see how that movement is translating to on screen aiming, then compensate. Keyboard and mouse / twin sticks ... they work because you just DO and it happens. Plus with what you gain in being able to aim around screen, you lose in having a “look direction” stick for navigation.

Anything that I have enjoyed motion wise has been in games more suitable for the input method, and there is nothing wrong with that. They have their place. They won’t replace.

Is there a bunch of games that have analogue bullets with variable speeds or something?

or is it a 'woah, it's like I'm pulling a trigger on a REAL GUN!'

Are you disputing that pulling a trigger is both more natural and more comfortable than a mouse button?

I am. I prefer R1 than R2 for shooting on a PS3. Button click is ever so slightly faster & more responsive than squeezing a trigger.

Nintendo really need to start rethinking how this is being advertised if they want it to take off. All I ever seem to hear about this is how they think it'll be as powerful as the PS3 and the 360. I don't think comparing your new as yet unreleased console with 5 year old plus, last gen consoles that if rumors are to be believed being replaced anyway in the next couple of years are going to be bringing in the punters.

    Mental. :D

The way I see the whole pad vs everything argument is that pads aren't actually supposed to be that good at anything. They're all rounders.

-You can play shooters with them, but you're better off with a k&m.
-You can play racers with them, but you're better off with a wheel.
-You can play fighters with them, but you're better off with an Arcade Stick.

They're best for platformers though. Analogue control for motion and another analogue control to pan the camera around as you run.

    1. that makes no sense

    2. there's a lot of auto-aim in pad controlled fps's.

The diagonals fuck me up on a pad. I'll more often that not line up the Y axis and then strafe till the target is in line.

devs are dumber games down for the masses, the next generation will be pussies. not able to turn a corner without a trail of arrows showing them how. that shit is coming 'on' as standard these days and most people want even change it. sad.

Yes, and I feel a lot of forums have dumbed down their participants recently too.
