Eurogamer photography experts please help me choose a new compact camera!

I cant choose between two new canon compacts. Interested in these as both have new low light CMOS sensor:

    Canon IXUS 220 HS - 24mm wide angle - F2.7 lens

    Canon IXUS 310 HS - 28mm wide angle - F2.0 lens - Touchscreen LCD

I was going to get the 220 as wanted super wide angle and didnt want a touchscreen camera, even though I have a touchscreen phone... Then I saw that the 310 has a faster lens. Which should I go for wider angle lens or faster lens but with possibly annoying touchscreen?

It's just a very hard choice to make on your behalf. Really depends on whether you think the extra width in the lens is more important than a few extra stops.

I got myself a bit confused with all the models. They both have a 24mm lens. However I really didnt want a touchscreen LCD so I bought last years model the IXUS 300 HS, has the same CMOS sensor and f2.0 lens. Only difference is 2M less pixels and no touchscreen, oh and its a trendy matt black. Took some low light shots last night without the flash and was very impressed with the pictures. There was a lot less noise, much less grainy than my old Canon 950 IS. Will update after a couple of weeks if anyone is interested. Bought it in Jessops 179.

You can't really go wrong with a Canon compact. Either of those cameras would have been good, for a price.

You could say its possible to fake a bigger angle but not a faster picture...

Or you could say that Panasonic >>>>
