Registered 19 years agoThere isn't an achievement for that is there?
I don't want to do what I did for Deus Ex: HR and play a particular way from beginning to end (unless it's satisfying to do so).
It's not that I care about the achievement as much as I see it as a special challenge, and once I start on these things I often find it hard to stop.

Yes, there is. There are achievements for a few different play styles so you'll need to play through a few times for max it. -

Registered 17 years agoJesus. How can GameTrailers be the only review site that have figured out that it pays to hire someone with a pleasing voice to review titles? That CVG review is terrible to listen to 2 people stumbling over words and thinking of what to say. -
@DUFFMAN5 it is actually pretty spoiler free and there is no new footage shown.
Said it is game of the year, refreshing, a gamer game, not dumbed down like most mass market games, rewards you the more you engross yourself into its world. Only a couple of small complaints. -

Registered 15 years agoSo PC or 360 then? PS3 version probably poor?
No fanboy shit just dev/publisher history -
UE3 games tend to be ok on the ps3. Borderlands 2 is great even if it's the worst version. -
Generally ps3 is the worst version. If you got a good pc then pc surely? Cheaper, better visuals and the ability wheel prob better with mouse. -
Yeah but in my experience, it's quite liberating to know that there isn't anything you can do to improve the fps. With PCs it's easy to get obsessed with tweaking. Maybe it's just me. -

Registered 12 years ago@NotSoSlim PC as it's about half the price for me. I don't have a great PC, but I imagine it'll be good enough to make it look better than my PS3 does. -

Registered 17 years agoI really hate the term 'dumbed down' to describe modern gaming, it's such bullshit. Games are more complex than they've ever been but the job of a game designer is to not allow that complexity to confuse the player. Mechanics should be streamlined and drip fed and that's exactly what is happening, that doesn't make them stupid.
I guarantee you this does exactly the same thing, the only difference being the structure of the world to allow you to approach an objective in multiple ways. Multiple games do this but it's always been a small percentage in the market. -
You have a point but it is true that many games are dumbed down to get mass appeal. Mass effect 2 was dumbed down. Assassins creed doesn't really let you do anything except press A in fear of alienating fans.
Games are more complex now but many are also removing real interactivity. -

Registered 15 years agoThe only part that put me off in the CVG review is that he said it was game of the generation but still not better than Deus Ex. A game over 10years old. -

Registered 17 years agoEvery button on the control pad is used for multiple commands in AC, it has too many controls for all the actions it wants you to do. AC3 is streamlining the systems so as not to require you to need multiple inputs to complete simple (relevant to the character and design) actions.
Just because you don't have a jump button doesn't make it dumbed down. That's exactly my point. -
Derblington speaks the truths - passionate game designers don't think "how can we make this dumber?", they think "how can we make this better?". -
Ac movement is dull, you run and hold a button. The game does the rest for you. That is dumbing down. If you actually did the movement etc it would be brilliant. Mirrors edge didn't say just hold A to get from start to finish. -
Xcom looks streamlined, assassins creed looks dumb. I hate press A then X and watch your character do some cool kill move. Would rather do the move myself like say bayonetta. -

Registered 17 years agoCompletely different games. The sole objective in ME is movement, there is nothing else. Every other action you can perform is secondary and provided to allow you to recover when the movement stops.
AC is not a game about movement, and should it require you to complete each action (sprint, jump, pull-up, drop, roll) manually there wouldn't be room for anything else (not to mention that traversal alone would be a nightmare because the game world is so complex).
And a comparison to Bayonetta is even more moronic.

In Tomb Raider you had to carefully line up your jumps, tippy toeing up to the edge, hop back one space, run forward and jump right at the edge. Then die because you were 2 pixels off and had to go back half an hour
Anything else is dumbed down baby shit -
It is not just about movement but movement is a big part of the game and you don't have to do anything to accomplish the feat.
Yeah mirrors edge was more focused but if assassins creed nailed the same interactivity in movement it would be something special. -
The point the reviewer was making is that you are not held by the hand like a large number of titles and are free to do what you want. The difference being you have to do it and not just press a button to watch a animation sequence.
