3 of us on at the moment - myself, Duff and Gartt.

Finally found your Steam ID Physically_Insane - we'll hang around for 5/10 mins to see if you jump on, if not we're going to get started.

Really enjoyed that - a little write-up for those on the fence.

    Map - de_nuke

Players - myself, Duff and Gartt (plus two randoms)

Started on the CT side and performed quite well. Everyone stuck to their positions, rotations were fast and reactions/aim were generally on point. We finished the round 11-4 up - seemed in the bag. Missed ecos were laughed off.

5 minutes later it's 12-12, the other team on a massive roll as the CTs (similarly to how we were - blame the map). Duff and Jazzy pulled a round out of nowhere and we finally won the remaining rounds to seal the map.

I was easily the weak link but the atmosphere stayed amicable and the other two helped me out quite a bit. In my defence I'm usually a little better than that (and I pre-warned you)!

All in all a really enjoyable game - can't wait to have another blast, hopefully with five next time.

Apologies for repeatedly buying during eco, I'm way too quick on that F1 key :D

    Team - 'Yeah'

    Duff - 'Whoops'

Also, I'm reading a map call-out guide at this very moment - when I heard 'squeaky' and 'secret' I didn't have the foggiest clue where these were!

Have I really been playing this game over 10 years?

I missed out on the fun by a couple of minutes, hopefully will be free next time...

I'd actually forgotten what secret was at the start of that game. Squeaky I knew cos it's the door that squeaks, innit.

    @andytheadequate

Sorry to hear that - I think we might try wrangling a game on Friday if people are available. I can't drink for a couple of weeks so I'll be up for it.

Ah sorry guys. Couldn't do it last night. Another time maybe.

    You missed excellent postgame chat.

    "Good game guys!"

    "SHUT THE FUCK UP"

Also I've noticed there's a decent amount of criticism about the positional audio in this game making it hard to tell if something is above/below you, which I'll use as my excuse for being unable to find the bomb in round 1...

Forgot about the post-game chat - they weren't the nicest people, were they?

As an add on to last night - I was a little ashamed of my performance yesterday (daft I know) and resolved to try some new tips out today. These ended up helping greatly.

    - Checked the map callouts - invaluable stuff.
    - Turned down some graphics fluff - helped me see models a lot more clearly
    - Unparked my CPU cores - I'm running a lowly Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz which I thought was giving me 60fps. After checking in the console with net_graph 1 it turns out I was getting anywhere between 40-60, sometimes dropping further when the action picked up. Unparking the cores leaves me hovering around 80-90fps - result!
    - Found out I had mouse acceleration on - turned it off, aiming improved.

All I need to do now is make some bindings - any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

You've been using mouse acceleration? You're mad :-D

Try looking into custom crosshairs, I've got a small non dynamic light blue cross for mine.

Where's the best place to look - the Workshop?

I honestly didn't know I had mouse accel on - couldn't believe it when I saw it was set to 'Yes'. It probably won't even matter seeing as I'm using a HP mouse and keyboard on the smallest PC desk known to man.

Ive never really bothered with bindings myself, apparantly having a bind for jump+throw smoke is a useful one when you learn smoke spots though.

Knowing the right callouts is really really helpful though.

Thanks for the CH editor link.

I felt the same about bindings - buying everything before a round starts usually isn't a problem at all. The only time I can see it being useful is when buying for others.

No problem - I won't be free till around half 8. Any time after this is no problem though.

Working at quarter to six on a Friday? Harsh.
