See Astralis called a time out when they were 15-2 on the second map. Flush (from fnatic) said they had easy games against Astralis in an interview yesterday. Karrigan (from Astralis) said in his interview they called the time out to basically annoy them and let them stare at defeat for 2 more mins. Brilliant..gif)
Anyway, opens it up a bit more. Will be the first new winner of a major competition for a while. Fnatic have won them all last year i think.
NaVi and Luminosity Gaming are probably favourites now. -

Online (twitch & GOTV) audience peaked at 1.1M yesterday. Even though there is no US team in the final i expect that total to be beaten today in the final. -

Registered 19 years agoI haven't played CounterStrike since the days it was a Half Life mod and you could win by having ISDN, but what's going on with the player outlines - it looks like you can see where the enemies are in this version.
Or am I being thick and that's just a replay/observer view? -

As MMMarmite said, that is just the observer view letting you see what the other team is doing as well. Obviously in game you dont get to see that (unless you are a cheating wanker).
Peak audience yesterday for the final was around 1,350,000. A new record for CS. No idea how that compares to other eSports broadcasts. -

Bit quick after the last big major tbh. NiP full team (after playing with their coach in the moajor). Fnatic withdrew as one of their players (Olofmeister) has a game related wrist/arm injury. NaVi AWPer not playing for similar reasons.
Might be interesting. Will see. -

Registered 17 years agoESL One Cologne has been going on for the last week. The final is today at 1600GMT.
This thread on reddit has all the info necessary to watch.
For the first time at any major CS:GO event there are no EU teams in the final. SK gaming (ex-LG), the no 1 team in the world the last few months, are in the final and are from Brazil. Team Liquid, a team from NA, have reached the final for the first time - this is alos the first time a team from NA have reached the final of any majors, so its a bit of a big deal.
Team Liquid have a Ukrainian player called s1mple playing his last match for them. One of the best players in the world. he has a bad reputation for being difficult to play alongside (he is quite emotional).
Should be interesting. Personally would like to see TL win today. -

Been a few new updates. Weapon sounds all round have been changed, and theres a new version of Inferno. Looks great. Also, a while back, nuke was revamped as well, and is starting to be played a bit more often in tournaments.
Rumours are that possibly de_dust2 will be the next map to drop from the active roster (to be replaced by inferno) and will be remade.
If anyone fancies a game or 3, give me a shout on steam. -

Actually! Just heard they've got a weather window and we've just lost a day for our decommissioning workscope so we're out of here on Sunday the 18th. \o/ Home a day early.
But that's it! Last ever trip offshore for this project, 6 months in the office finishing off the documentation and plenty of time for CS =D
So we'll get some games in over the festive period. Have the chickens for their christmas jumpers on yet? -

Registered 17 years agoThere are some bugs which have been getting worse with the latest updates. Particularly the latest update which added some 3d type sound to the game.
Check your settings, and turn of HTSD (or whatever its called) so it reverts to the old/standard sound. That should ease things a bit for you.
There are a few other tweaks you can do, but if you have only just bought it all the settings should be pretty much default. -

Registered 17 years agoWhat settings do you use and what card etc do you have?
Setting "fps_max 100" in console will limit your frame rate to whatever number you put in, 100 in that example.
If you dont have a reasonably half decent pc just chuck all the settings on med/low and you should easily get a steady 60-100 no probs. The shader settings and resolution make the biggest impacts to your frame rates.
Also, the console command to show fps isnt the most accurate. Better using "net_graph 1", which shows more detailed info (choke, ping, fps, etc). Might not require the _ though, cant remember off hand.
You must have an old pc tbh, potato's can run this now.
ps. If your frame rate jumping is on de_nuke or de_inferno then those are the newest maps to have been updated with textures etc, which might make a difference. -
