For a while now, the Game Centre icon on my iPad has had a small (2) at the top right, in the same way that the App Store icon does when there's an update available.

However, I've searched every inch of the Game Centre... thing, and I can't find anything that needs updating / altering / whatever, in order to make the (2) go away.

Anyone know what it's referring to?

Mine has a dozen, almost exclusively responses to abusive friends requests I've sent to other people.

Turn the Notifications off in Settings if it's bothering you that much.

I feel your frustration!

Along the bottom, I have 'Me' 'Friends' 'Games'.

No sign of the requests icon.

I'll just ignore it. Or I would if it were there, but it isn't. So I'll ignore the lack of it.

Edit - maybe I missed a software update somewhere along the line - don't think so though.

Think I had that (badge with a number, but no request in the GC) when someone used an email address that wasn't quite correct to add me - was accompanied by an email from apple though that I should verify the request/email address or something, but I don't quite remember the details.
