The PlayStation Vita version of Persona 4 is "Persona 4 The Golden." So what's so Golden about it?

Famitsu lists the following (as summed up at Sokuho@Hokanko):

3G and Wi-Fi support
New event scenes
Added Personas
Added character outfits
New character Marie, voiced by Kana Hanazawa. She's a "mysterious girl" who appears before the main characters.
When you're about to die in a dungeon, you can send a message seeking help to other players. It's not specified how this system will work exactly.
Additional anime movie scenes, with new voices
1.5 times the voice of the PS2 original
New song for the opening movie
An element that has been highly requested by fans

In an interview with Famitsu, producer Katsura Hashino said that team Persona was originally looking into bringing Persona 4 to PSP. However, they wanted to retain as much as possible from the PS2 version, as opposed to some of the cuts they had to make for Persona 3 Portable. They deemed this impossible on the PSP. This is when they heard about the Vita, and determined that they could make something even better than the PS2 version.

Hashino promised that the Vita version will retain the qualities of the original while also adding many new elements.

I dunno, the only way I would get this would be if I could make a new game plus run with my PS2 save, somehow grabbing it from my PS3 hard drive. I've got very little interest in starting from scratch after 80 hours on that.

Ooh! I've just got P4 and it's on my "to-play" pile. However I wonder if I should wait for the Vita version...

I take it by them not wanting to make as many cuts etc, they mean no static menus for moving around and so on like P3P? If it really is just the EXACT same game as the PS2 version, with some added extras, I'll probably just wait... Will be a nice long game to play on a handheld.

Christ if this thing launches with Uncharted, Resistance and Persona 4 I'll probably melt down into a small pile of goo.

Along with Disgaea 3, Little King's Story, Ruin, Stardust, Wipeout. The line-up is looking very impressive indeed, and there's a lot more to come...

Ghostlight's Ross on his twitter account mentioned that he 'hopes' to see Ghostlight bring Persona 4: The Golden on Vita.

Make of it what you will, But I do think we will see the game come out here especially with the lack of an RPG on the western launch lineup for the system.

Japan already have three RPG games for Vita on sale; Ragnarok Odyessy, Lord of Apocalypse and Disgaea 3.

I don't think the predecessor Lord of Arcana did well. It went to the bargain bins quite quickly. But that probably wad due to PSP being almost dead.

I wouldn't look too much into that. They're pretty much the one publisher everyone is looking at to get the Persona 4 Gold license anyway as they've handled the other Persona games.

I wouldn't read too much into that. I'd love to work on it but I'm fairly low down on the information chain so I don't know much about the situaion with Persona 4.

Ah, fingers crossed then. I would love to see it released over here. All the additions to the game are just the icing on the cake given the fun that can be had from playing Persona games on the go.

Great news. Never had chance to play Persona 4. I have a sealed PS2 copy but the console died a few hours into Persona 3.

While I love the idea of a quality JRPG on the Vita - I'm playing Persona 2 at the moment and, well, I'm not really enjoying it. Still - P2 is 13 years old so I shouldn't tar P3 and P4 with the same brush....

I was looking at P3P on the PS3 store yesterday. Would you recommend it to someone who last enjoyed a JRPG with FFVII? I could be playing it on my Vita tonight if it's any good.

I think it's great fun, but I have enjoyed JRPGs since FFVII.

P3P is a brilliant JRPG. Rapid departure from FF7 though so I'd look at a couple of trailers before taking the plunge.

Also, bear in mind that I don't know if you can transfer EU PSP games to Vita until closer to launch (US should be fine though).

Well, I'm currently playing P2 at the moment - brilliant, original story and characters, totally ruined by too-frequent and tedious random battles.

I understand that P3 is a massive improvement in that respect.
