Registered 15 years agoThe E3 Persona 4 Golden trailer
This looks awesome, even though I have already played the game on PS2.
Would it be silly to buy a Vita just for this game? -

Registered 18 years agoPlayed a spot of this on the bus into town today. Initial impressions:
I like the new intro song, and I'm glad it's a Meguro number, or at least in his style.
It seems to load fairly quickly.
There's a lot of bonus stuff in the main menu, which seems to unlock through that game - you can even set it to notify you when stuff is unlocked!
If you are logged into PSN while playing you can see what people are doing (no detail as I haven't seen the feature in action yet) and help or be helped in dungeons.
The sound quality seems pretty good. It is 3 gigs and has plenty of bonus videos, as well as the existing animations being in higher resolution. I had also forgotten about the advert which plays in the intro!
It introduces a new character very quickly and lets you wander round a bit in sections where you couldn't before. I suspect the main reason is to allow saving.
On the subject of resolution, the 3D seems to run slightly below native but the text and portraits are full resolution and look lovely.
The camera on the dungeon segments seems even twitchier than before and I couldn't immediately find the 45 degree angle snap buttons which used to be on L2 and R2.
There are two new difficulties, "Safety" and "Risky". Wonder how difficult Risky gets - a festival of One More and instant death I shouldn't wonder.
I was able to select an option in the first class scene which I'm pretty sure was unavailable in a first run previously.
I have remembered how much I liked the original release, so I suspect I'll be playing a lot more! -

Registered 10 years agoThe online functionality is interesting. Guess I will have to import this game. Currently playing P3P and enjoying it so far, even though I am only a couple of hours in. -

We will have to give the online thingamajiggery a go once I get into it a bit more, uiruki. -

Registered 18 years agoAbout 3 and a half hours in, into the first proper dungeon bit. They've changed Shuffle Time around so it is much easier. I can see why, the timing element would have been a pain on the move and I never even bothered with the bonus card ones because of that bad one which drains all your MP. -

Registered 10 years agoI like it personally. Dynamic and cheerful.
Also I much prefer getting that sort of email to the normal ones Atlus sends telling me about all the wonderful prizes I could win if only I lived in America.

On a side note the Persona 4 One Coin figures are ridiculously cute. -

Registered 18 years agoFinished! A little under 110 hours in all.
It's easier than the PS2 version in the default difficulty, as it lets you start again from the start of a floor if you die. There are a fair few changes made in the interest of making the game flow better, too - you can choose moves at fusion, searching for fusion results doesn't require time-consuming trial and error, shuffle time is less timing based (though it has a different challenge), the other characters get better moves as you improve their S.Links (much appreciated!), and it gives you more opportunity to "get out" of cheap deaths.
There's a shedload of new content in there, too - there must be a good 15 hours worth, depending on how you count the stuff in the "TV listings" section. It definitely feels like a director's cut, with new events and stuff fitting into the main game without feeling forced (though a couple of the voice actors do give it away a bit - Kuma and Yosuke can't really do the voices in the same way), with the other extras feeling like a bonus DVD packaged with a rereleased film. -

Would be some kind of cool meta decision to have told Kuma's seiyuu to put on a slightly different voice, since Teddie's English VA has changed between P4 and P4G.

Registered 9 years agoThe only thing that makes me mad is the voice actors for Chie and Teddie in this game.
And this picture

Everything else is nice thought. -

Registered 18 years ago@TheElbow - you really should take that picture down or put it in spoiler tags. Call me old-fashioned, but posting a picture from the end of the new true ending added for the game when it isn't released in the language the forum communicates in is just not cool.
@Feanor - it's Marie, the new character. -

Registered 17 years agoP3P turned out to be a bit of a letdown for me - certainly liked the idea and setting, but the actual gameplay and social links were not deep or varied enough to hold my interest for long. I'm still really looking forward to this though, mainly because unlike P3P it seems to be a proper port of the PS2 original. If it lacks the grindiness and repetition that blighted P3P, I can see it being my first import in ages.
