For my money, the greatest live front man of all time.

Happy birthday Fred. Long live the Queen.

I think I've only cried upon hearing of the deaths of two celebrities. John Peel and Freddie Mercury.

God speed to you, sir, you were the soundtrack to my teens.

Defiantly the greatest frontman of all time, his Live aid performance always gives me goosebumps no matter how many times I watch it.

Really looking forward to the Sasha Baron Cohen film. That must be nearly done now.

What do Ayrton Senna and Freddie Mercury have in common?

They both died with blood on their helmets.

Not a fan of Queen, but I can appreciate how talented they were - he was indeed an awesome frontman. I'd say we need a truly massive band like that these days - there are no real young, exciting superstar bands any more.

Good to see some 'nice' responses in here, too, a refreshing lack of trolling.

I've been listening to Queen II this week; it's almost shameful how poor and ripped off they were in the early years :/

I truly hope they don't chart his demise in this movie, I only want to remember the absolute fucking legend that he was when he was at his prime, and he deserves to be remembered for that, and not some fucking disease.

+1. It was a fucking disease though. :-/

ITV had a fairly good documentary on him last night, then they spoke to some impersonators and robbie williams and I got massively pissed off and spent the remainder watching youtube videos.

Sadly I think the disease defined some of his better work / performances. Show must go on makes almost every hair on my body stand on end.

They should use the anniversary to come up with a 'proper' Greatest Hits 3. The one they released after his death was bloody awful, I could've come up with a 2000% better track list in about 20 seconds.

I've got a full discography here. Might just start at the beginning. :-)

It's a shambles what the Brian May and Roger taylor did to that band in the years since he died.
