Yeah. Their attempts to keep the Queen name going were embarassing. Although all four of them were accomplished songwriters and contributed to what the band was, Queen without Mercury completely missed the point of what the band was about. Deacon was the only member with the grace to know when to call it time and had nothing to do with it iirc..

Indeed, they should've done the tribute concert and then called it quits.

They'd a couple of good songs, that's it.

    Overrated band, good singer though.

I dunno, I saw Roger Taylor and Brian May play tie your mother down with the Foo Fighters and it pretty much made my head explode.

Obviously not the same as it could have been but it was still pretty damn special.

That kind of thing's okay (and indeed, head-explodey), but some of the things they've done with the name 'Queen' attached to them are not so great.

Roger and Brian "from Queen" - good.
Roger and Brian "as Queen" - not good.

I wonder what Mercury would be doing now had he lived?

I think Flash Gordon was just the tip of the iceberg as far as the camp musicals that he could have made.

I haven't seen We Will Rock You, but am reliably informed that it is fucking awful, even more so for Queen fans. Just leave it be FFS.

Yeah, I agree with this. Most of their output is pretty hard to listen to for more than a handful of times before the novelty wears off and it becomes increasingly irritating.

I saw We Will Rock You in London a few years ago. The story was a load of toss but it was still a good night out fwiw.

Nothing will ever beat that version of 'We Will Rock You' that Brian and Roger did with 5IVE though..

Queen to launch official tribute band

    Dear oh dear

They really need to call it quits, also the We Will rock you musical was a travesty. Ben Elton is a twat.

They're doing a film of the musical :(

Urgh, it's going to end up being written by Ben Elton isn't it?

Pity shadowgangs didn't come to fruition. A fitting tribute it would of been.
