Ah, you must mean the new mobile site which is great but the app is so much more fully featured and a great alternative. The new mobile site doesn't seem that readable in portrait view for some reason.

To be fair to FB, his app is so good that poor EG are playing catch up

Nice work freaky. Couple of things:

Page select feature is great, though perhaps instead of entering a number via numpad or up down what about a slide panel so swiping your finger back forth increments page number.

also I find the next page, previous page buttons a bit to small (nexus one) any thoughts on implementing a page flick or swipe?

Other than that keep up the excellent work!

Meant the above for when in the forum, either looking at thread listing or when reading a thread.

Actually, a page swipe left or right would be immense for the news articles freaky, especially in offline mode.

I think the new mobile site is fantastic, it's a much need face lift.

A native mobile app is always going to be a bit faster and more responsive, so all these options are a bonus to the site readers.

So...

The API has disappeared! Its giving a 404 now so I expect they have either:

. not got around to remapping their firewall
. brought it down to remove noise from the mobile app to fix bugs
. re-wiring it so that it works with the new schema?
. something else!

Its all guess work right now, so go visit the mobile site for a while, I'm sure the API will be back at some point.

I know what its like when you throw the switch on a new site and it buckles under the strain.

It must be pretty crazy at EG towers right now.

Although tags in text are no longer working... (some are, some aren't... See p236 of the Dark Souls thread, post by Rodriguez)

Yep! They fixed the site too. It's a little slower than it was but I'm sure they'll optimise.

Now its back, I guess I should upload a new version that lets you see images and Smileys

Its on the front page.

This. Screenshots are the only ones that are working. Videos just lead to a black screen and articles either give that message or cause the app to force close.

But, it is as smooth as ever and as suicida said the forum work's fine. Still a top app.

All new articles published since the new site went live are not being made available in the API. I expect (hope) this will be fixed at some point, I'll email EG and see what they say but I'm not sure I'll get a response quickly because they must be all running around fixing/tweaking things.

The images are a different matter. It appears they are no longer publishing the 300x105 images I have been using.

I noticed yesterday that the site is using one core image and resizing it and now that this image server seems to have gone live (its not running on port 6081 anymore) I'll have to update the app to make use of it.

However, like the forums, the videos are working ok. You have a desire, like me, and it has problems dealing with many of the HD videos and larger video sizes on the site.

Try disabling HD in the settings and if that doesn't work, hold your finger over the video for a second and it will present you with all the available video sizes. Try picking the lowest one.

I cant read any articles now.. Loads tge page bit theres no text. Also, the forum is a mess now.. none of the quotes work, u can juat see the [quote:] signs everywhere. Whats happened??

This. I love this app already (only had it a week) I guess this sort of thing is only to be expected from an "unofficial" app... Hopefully it'll be sorted soon, I hope EG don't block apps like this. One of the things I like about Twitter is there are loads of different ways/apps to access the content, all competing against each other on features...

When you download it, be sure to click it to install it though. I had a major brainfade and took a while to work out why I wasn't seeing my groups when they got added into it.

They made changes in the API to the forum markup. I've already fixed this in the latest version 2.25. You can get this on the front page of this thread. However.....

I got a mail from EG about the missing articles that explains the situation.

They are switching over from limited mobile content in the api to the same content you see on the new site and mobile site.

This change should take place later this week. The good news is that inline pictures are now supported in the API so we'll have a slightly more rich view on things.

The even better news for me is that this app already supports those elements. I've tweaked the parser to expect the new content.

I will keep you posted on when this will happen. You'll need to get the yet unreleased 2.26 when the switch is thrown.
