While the majority of you are sensible people who would never do such a thing, statisticaly there are bound to be readers of this forum who may get behind the wheel after sinking a skinfull.

To those people I beg you to never do such a thing again. You may wind up driving into a person, you may wind up killing someone.

Please, drink drivers, do not do it. You may kill another of my friends

I'm very sorry to hear about your friend Khanivor.

Drink drivers rarely end up hurting themselves - it's usually someone else. Selfish bastards should be jailed for life. One of my best friends lost her six year old daughter in a car smash caused by two drunken blokes racing on a dual carriageway.

He was a good friend. We each bought a six-pack of beer and settled on front of the telly to watch the war kick off. He invented a great game called nob-touch, where you'd get pissed and flip yer willy out of yer pants and touch unsuspecting people with it. He got 3 coppers, 4 bouncers and Flava Fav one night

He was the most nationalistic person I knew and a boorish drunk, but he was - no is - one of the funniest and warmest people I have ever known.

To lose him is cruelty. To lose him to someone who thought it would be fine to get drunk and then drive home is awful.

So I posted this to try and impress on any who may think of drinking and driving that it's not just strangers who suffer from your selfish actions.

Don't do it.

It's shit like this that scares me. Not only do I lose a good friend who was a character, the kind of person that is all too rare and needs to be cherished, but I am reminded of the fleetingness of mortality, and how the selfish actions of others can cut that slender thread what connects you to your life.

So please, anyone thinking of getting behind the wheel after too many drinks, think of that dead man's face. And think of the face that has been blurred out, to the bottom left of that 10 year old picture. It's of 'Cooose's son.

Agreed, I would be completely distraught if one of my friends was killed, especially if it was a drunk driver, and even worse if it was a hit and run, people like that deserve to get the full brunt of the law.

So I really empathize Khanivor, I'm sorry about your friend.

They have no idea who did it. It may not even have been a drink driver. But at 3.30 in the morning, and with a man dead, I struggle to think of any other reason for not coming forward.

And thank you for your kind-hearted feelings folks. I found out he had died jsut before I left aberdeen to come over here to Ireland to see my folks. So I missed out on the pub sesh and the grieving with friends. So I came here to be amongst my other set of friends. And to hopefuly make an impact, maybe make someone stop and think before they put themselves in a situation where another such terrible waste could happen again.
