Shit I thought it was May but a quick google says June. Hmm, maybe 15/16 months then. Still a quite a long time! -

Registered 18 years agoPretty hard to justify upgrading from 3GS > 4S when iOS5 runs so well on the former. Gimmicky voice assistant aside, there's nothing in the new model that I can't do on my trusty 3GS. -

Registered 17 years agoEr. There's a much faster CPU, the camera is amazing (LED flash), video, THAT screen, faster wifi etc etc. The screen and camera alone are enough for me...
Of course it depends what you want to do with a phone, but I can't imagine being on a 3GS since I've moved to 4.
Now if you were talking about migrating from 4 to 4S, then maybe I could agree...

Siri is a right bitch at times though! -
A 3GS to s 4GS is a good upgrade, I can't see any benefit really to be going from a 4 to a 4GS.
I'm happy with what I have! -

Was at the O2 shop on Friday with a 32GB ready and waiting for me. Stood in the queue, I had a little play on one, and thought against it. In the meantime I'll wait it out for the 5 as i fight my new shiny urge. Perfectly happy with the 4, easily the best phone I've owned. -
video quality looks amazing -

There aren't any missing features per se, though. I can still do the same things I do on the 3GS - listen to music, play games, browse the web, occasionally phone someone - just faster, I guess. As you can see I'm trying hard to justify not getting a 4S. -
Aye it's worth me waiting for the 5 rather than this, not worth the cost for not that much extra. -

Registered 15 years agoFree on O2 as well, if it's a new contract (which I imagine it is). Just uses up your data allowance. -

My advice to you then: don't borrow one for a bit. You'll find it hard to use the 3GS after that (the screen alone would kill* me).

Registered 18 years agoHeh, I've actually seen and played around with loads of iPhone 4s (and iPod Touches) since they've been out - the retina display is indeed lovely, but not a deal breaker for me. I'm sure if I was to use for any length of time it would be hard to go back to the low-res displays, but that can be said for any modern technology really. -

Registered 18 years agoI'd say that the 3GS>4/4S was DVD>Blu-Ray, and those early colour screen phones were like VHS.

I really don't see why when you can sell the iphone4 for so much off the 4S. People seem to forget how much you can get for the 4, turns it into a basic swap almost. -

You could target that remark at the entire smartphone upgrade culture. -

It's a broken analogy. I prefer Gameboy -> GBA -> GB SP.

On the positive side, Siri looks like a genuine step forward. Certainly more potentially impactful than ... a curved screen at any rate.
