Registered 10 years agoI feel really dirty.
I hooked up my PS3 controller to my PC yesterday when I was playing Testament of Sherlock Holmes. My mouse was playing up and I really wanted to carry on playing. I found some programme called Motionjoy.
It wasn't that bad.
Plus the game was £8.99 on PC, £30 on console.
I am now having dirty thoughts about playing more games on PC with this control system if I can find cheap games. -

Registered 8 years agoTodays rumours and speculation : The next Xbox has a name!
I can just see all the executives, stuck in a room for 4 straight days with charts, smoking fags, sleeves rolled up, hair ruffled. One of the work experience kids pops in with everyones 50th coffee and says "why dont you call it.....Xbox?"
"Someone give that kid a raise.....and a job.....!" -

Registered 8 years agoI did - they called it a hoax, which is why i described it as rumours and speculation. T'was intended to poke fun at Microsoft for shits and giggles.
I'll behave from now on, sir...... -

Registered 12 years agoInteresting... I just took a private survey on gaming and they started asking about Destiny, Halo Next, Star Wars 1313 and Watch Dogs and which I would buy if they were released around the same time.
Why do I get the feeling that some of those are going to be next gen launch titles. -
Would be one quick Halo game would it not? -

Oh God, remember that? -

Registered 10 years agoI think it's inevitable that some games will be moved to the next gen as launch titles.

Registered 11 years agoI think there will be very few exclusive next gen launch titles, if devs can get them running on the current consoles they'll release both versions.
They'd be mad to cut off the huge number of potential sales to the massive install bases that will take a long time to switch over.
I fully expect the likes of COD, Watch dogs, AC etc. to come out on everything albeit with a couple of additional bells and whistles on the "next gen" versions.

Registered 11 years agoDo you think they'll be able to even get games like Watch Dogs running on current hardware? Judging by the video from the last E3 i'd be surprised if it ran on it.
Saying that i agree with what you say but it would be a hell of a cut down engine to get working on current gen hardware i think. I wonder if the engine the game is built on is scalable in that sense? If it is then that would make it easier for them i imagine. -

Registered 11 years agoEverything is scalable, but ubi confirmed that watch dogs was going to be available on current gen.
Granted it is the one game that I could see possibly not coming out on 360/PS3 but I'd still be surprised if it didn't.
knock down the resolution a bit and cut out some of the more fancy shaders and effects and it would likely run acceptably -
Don't fancy the idea of next gen games being held back by current gen specs. -

Registered 12 years agoThere's pretty believable rumour / leak that the next Battlefield game will run 60fps on PS4 / 720 and 30fps on the PS3 and 360. -

Registered 12 years agoI don't fancy it either, but the time will be spent once there's money to be made. -
I'm pretty sure you know what I mean. Designers would have to take into consideration machines of much lower capability at the design stage. -

Registered 11 years agoAnd the games that weren't held back by last gen development had some odd design decisions. Like Perfect Dark and it's tessellated bricks and shiny people. -

Registered 11 years agoYeah PD0 is a great example of a game not held back by design limitations of a previous generation...
Anyway its always going to be the case bar one or two exclusives for the first year or more of the next round of consoles. -
PD0 was last-gen development. It started on the GC, moved to Xbox, then shunted development to the 360 late in its cycle. All the shinies and physics are tacked on under a codebase designed for previous consoles. They didn't redevelop it from scratch. -

Did they confirm it for PS3 / 360? I thought they just said 'coming soon' to PC and other platforms. They never nailed on specifics although like mentioned it would be daft to ignore 70M install bases. Personally I'm a self confessed hardware whore so i'd have to get the new shiny when it came out :/ -

Registered 8 years agoEA reveal their working on "Gen 4" technology and new versions of FIFA and Battlefield.
Is it possible new gen games could be revealed before the actual consoles??? -
Hmmmm, i hope they dont leave the PC version of FIFA behind for a few years again.
