@pigsy2400 we don't need a Microsoft cross selling conference. Added extras are fine, but no one is going to buy a surface purely to use with the new Xbox. Just show us an amazing console with amazing games and don't make it all about Kinect. |

god i hope not, i play games for a bit of escapeism, i really dont need to see my tubby little frame waddling about on the screen
I also reckon that the Kinect 2 will get a huge push, letting you scan in your own face and body into the system to replace the ingame characters -

Registered 13 years agoAny kind of MS reveal or conference about the new console will have all of the following.
1. That dude from Rare in sunglasses who is really fucking "Wow! Cool!" that we don't give a shit about.
2. Them wrangling on about sports we do not give a shit about along with with some sport stars we don't know or give a shit about going on about the new central media hub for watching the said sports we do not give a shit about. Don't give a shit.
3. Some big name musicians and/or dancers promoting some Kinect game they clearly don't know or give a shit about that we do not give a shit about.
It'll be all razzle-dazzle.

Basically MS will release 'Durango' and a 360 mini. The mini will not have a disc drive, but will connect to Durango and provide backwards compatability. -

It's a good idea but I feel a likely price tag of £350 + £60 will make the combination a little expensive especially when we still cannot play our boxed 360 games. -

Interesting idea ... It could work but then why not offer options of both units seperately and then an "all in one" true next gen box. I'd buy the latter...

The way I've read it is that you still can use your 360 discs. You put 360 disc in Durango, Durango then routes the game through the 360 mini.

Registered 15 years agoIt will likely use the Durango disc drive for disc BC.
Xbox mini will be XBLA, streaming, GoD for a cheap price which might be quite neat with a good library and MS being more generous with deals. -

Registered 8 years agoSeems like the best solution to be honest. Much better than fucking Gaikai.
At the end of the day if you already own a 360 then you really have no need to sell it anyway.

They aren't going to change design for one SKU, a bundle perhaps but I doubt there is high demand for that. This is the best solution and one consumers won't have to pay for if they don't care about BC.

Registered 13 years ago@ecureuil Seems logical to me. Avoids the costs of adding BC to all units, but allows people to play all their old games if they wish for less than the cost of a second hand 360.
Much better than relying on cloud solutions that will be useless for 60-70% of people.

If true it sounds like a really elegant solution. I certainly wasn't expecting something that clever. -

Registered 13 years ago@Boab Given the 360 has BC for Xbox, in theory that box could do all three generations. That (on top of no used lock) would definitely give them a good step on the road to purchasability*

Registered 15 years agoNeeds a hard drive for original Xbox and a 7GB partition. Depends what MS do with storage on the mini. They might just stick a small amount of flash memory in over a hard drive to help make it considerably smaller. -

A bundle would work. Also the inevitable hardware shrink for the slim could bring an all in one unit causing most people to rebuy

Registered 13 years agoBy the way, have you seen the Playstation store ad on the left?
That's EXACTLY why I don't want download only games and no used games.
£59.99 for Tiger Wood 14?!
£49.99 for Bioshock Infinite
£13 more than even GAME for something with fewer overheads? Oh yes please Sony.
Jeez. -
Guesses Xbox mini will be loader than concorde and have a big red light to tell you when its fucked -
@espibara To be fair, mini by Xbox standards isn't that small either...
