Wake was horrible, if you weren't in armour or an aircraft you were basically just bidding your time until you died. 64 players on that just doesn't seem to work.

I would also like to use this post to apologise* to magicpanda for the amount of times I killed him in that round of Karkand, it was like my bullets/RPG shells were attracted to him. :-)

Exactly. Part of me thinks that these 'new' maps are so good is down to nostalgia, but even so, they are a metric fuck ton more playable and interesting than the release maps.

Having skipped BF2 I have no nostalgia and I find the Karkand pack of maps really need a full server otherwise they turn into a horrible grind while the BF3 can still be quite playable with a half full server.

Coming from my memories of BF1942 though and I find Wake Island is a big disappointment. I miss the sea battles

I thought one of the selling points of this pack was destruction but wtf is with the indestructible bridges on Wake?

I know they weren't in it originally and some people would bitch but the US having a Little Bird for some Black Hawk Down style action would be fantastic on Karkand.

Flying at low level between the buildings would be rather nice, at least until the inevitable RPG in the tail rotor.
