It was the first time I was able to properly experience the console. *Background info: Former Xbox 1 and Xbox 360 owner, Halo & Gears fanboy. Xbox apostate following E3 and TVTVTV* After denouncing it, dismissing it and convincing a friend to buy a PS4, I found that I really enjoyed it. Kinect was brilliant. The TV TV TV stuff has real potential. As a media centre it's very slick. I don't care about graphics that much (I still get awed by 360/PS3 graphics). It's suddenly become a very viable purchase. So now, after being set on purchasing a PS4, I'm suddenly confronted with the realisation that I really want an Xbox One. |

Registered 5 years ago@MiniAmin I'll be the first to admit that the One has some issues but I'm not sorry I bought it. I am however getting tired of '....took too long to start' messages. Especially for using the BluRay player.
Would love to be able to play Battlefield consistently too but that's obviously more EA bullshit. -

Registered 11 years ago@MiniAmin Don't feel bad about that. I have an Xbox One as well. I am liking it a lot. It's a good console to have. The voice controls are getting better and better for me. After giving my son a bath and getting him ready for bed with creme, nappies and milk, I have now gotten into the habit of saying "Xbox! On! Xbox..., go to TED!" -

Also finally managed to stream and control with my nexus, films and music to my xbox from my laptop. -

Registered 13 years agoIf you've got Forza it's probably worth doing the install and update overnight. It's going to take a while...
Edit: Although I did mine on launch day. Look around 6 hours to do.

There's settings that'll help with that.
Bought the console today.
Fiddling with the settings. Blacks appear to be a bit crushed. Strange as my new Bravia looks awesome with the PS4 with exactly the same settings and full RGB.
Initially finding the dashboard a bit confusing.
Display & Sound > Picture Settings. Set it to "monitor". -

Registered 9 years agoI've been around XBL a lot, and in recent years I've had very little in the way of verbal grief from any players. But today I had the displeasure of being on the same team as some asshole, who sounded far too old to be calling people "fucking retard" and mean it.
He was on my squad, and was in the same tank as me. First I get verbal abuse for following another tank, "go the other way, you fucking retard!" followed by a torrent of all oter kinds of crap. I mean, he was clearly good and was at the top of the leaderboard, but it wasn't as if I was getting no kills in that tank.
Anyway, despite the above I absolutely love to 'poke the bear' as it were, with people like this. So once he'd had enough of me he left my squad, to which I immediately responded by following him. Three times that happened! Each time I spawned on him - he was quite clearly happy about it.
Long story short, he was a cunt so I reported him - which I never do. Hope he enjoys his ban! -

Registered 11 years agoI was forced to buy it from Game. But Microsoft have their own 2 year warranty. Reading this has reminded me that I can just cancel the one from Game! -

It's £59.99 from MS. Was all ready to buy today, but at the confirmation page they add 23% tax bringing it to £73. The snakes... Pretty sure that's illegal to do in the UK AFTER asking for your credit card details - never mind the wrong tax amount.

Will call them tomorrow and see what's up with that. -

Registered 13 years agoDon't know why you'd do this. You're covered in the UK under the sales of goods act anyway so they're charging you for rights you already have by law in the UK.
PS anyone has voice chat set to public on Live is silly! Friends only all the way! -

Registered 9 years agoIt's easy to say that until it comes down to it, and you have to have those arguments.
The Sales of Goods act is all well and good, but you have to take it up with the retailer, not the manufacturer. And in this climate who knows how long any retailer will last. Secondly, the £60 is worth it just to get a quick turnaround. Arguing under the Sales of Goods act will require written letters, lots of waiting. -
Took me ten minutes when my 360 broke. Each to their own. £73 is a fair amount!
