I'll have to keep an eye on that one. Thoroughly rinsed it back in the day, hopefully the upgrades will make it worth playing again.

Great news, I have on both 360 and ps3 and though I enjoyed for some reason I only ever got about half way through! I suppose I could save some money and just play 360 version on my xbox. it is still a looker due to art style.

    :-D

I really liked KoA and spent a long time rinsing it, it wasn't the deepest RPG ever, but for a fun few hours of messing about exploring and treasure hunting it was definitely fun enough.

I always felt sad they never got to do another, as it showed a lot of promise for a first effort.

Never really got far with the original. I recall the endless terrible poetry from West Country Elves ground me down.

3 times I've tried to play Bleeding Edge and 3 times it's found a match, gone to the leading screen then sent me back to the menu screen

i swear there used to be a volume control on the xbox but i can't find it now. quite annoying having to use the knob on my dac to adjust it because there is another device on the same dac that i'd rather leave the volume as it is. did the volume control get removed?

No, it got moved (if you have the latest dash, I guess. I'm not up to date on the different builds/rollout). It's on one of the tabs in the Guide.

I really wish they wouldn't keep fucking round with the dash. It's really bizarre.

It can feel a bit like going to the supermarket to find they've moved everything around. Again.

Just checked - it's on the first tab of the Guide, Profile & System. Only appears when you connect headphones.

Those of you with an Xbox One X, how loud does your fan get when playing games like Red Dead and Destiny? Mine seems to get really noisy playing those two in particular. Not so much when I'm playing FIFA for instance.

Even when off and idle the X seems to run rather warm to the touch. Is that normal when in Instant-on mode?

I keep the xbox in an open fronted cabinet with a hole cut out at the back for cables and ventilation. Starting to think it might not moving.

@binky I've noticed that the fan noise is getting louder. Playing the Outer Worlds the other night and had to put my headphones on in the end. I keep mine in a similar set up to you and even placed it in the middle of the room but that didn't make any difference.

@SnowmanRR Was wondering if keeping it outside of the cabinet would help. Might try that for a night. That or turn off instant-on mode.

Every now and then my old Xbox One sounds like a jet taking off but usually only for a few minutes and I think only for Halo, it's somewhat unnerving! I've not really worried about it until it stops working. Always seems pretty hot and this one is on top of a unit.

Mine isn't audible most of the time. If I specifically listen to it, I sometimes notice it but my DVR's harddrive is louder.

connect headphones to what, though. i'm using headphones running from a dac via optical out from the xbox. it used to work but now it doesn't. quite shit tbh.

You can't change the volume of an optical out can you?

It's probably down to the thermal paste on the cooler - I had to pull mine apart and replace the paste as I was getting thermal warning shutdowns on 4k games which pushed the system hard. The original paste had pretty much dried out so not surprising it wasn't transmitting heat properly to the cooler any more. It's not too tough to do yourself I used this guide - https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Xbox+One+X+Project+Scorpio+Edition+Heat+Sink+Replacement/103027 - and it took me about an hour and a half.

Dunno if anyone's seen it, but there's a little (little!) more detail on how the Smart Delivery system will work. Interestingly, it will work for physical media as well as digital games.

My son wants to buy some Minecraft DLC for about a fiver. His account is pretty locked down - his profile is a sub-account in my Family group. Can I buy and gift him a 5 gift card? Or if I buy the DLC on my profile, will it be available under his? Not sure of the best way to do it, and the xbox.com website is incredibly confusing.

@monkman76 IIRC you can also buy content yourself on your own account which will then be available on his, *but* he has to go into the marketplace (in Minecraft) to essentially download it again.

I downloaded a bunch of "educational" stuff at the beginning of lockdown and I seem to remember this is what I had to do so my daughters could play it.

@monkman76 I just had to do almost this exact thing for my kid. I basically had to make him an adult profile, add my cc to his account, make the purchase, remove cc, lock the account down again.

@BigOrkWaaagh Fuck me, what a palarver. Would what Britesparc suggested not work? That sounds a bit less hassle.
