Why are you writing in that tone? You sound like a robot. Also as good as this looks, I don't think it'll be the first game ever with decent friendly AI :/
I dunno. Bullet catching is a keen hobby amongst friendly npcs..

This and ZombiU look really, really intriguing.
The scavenging system people have been talking about for this is the kind of thing I'd expect in the early days of gaming. I would love it if the story moved on mostly due to your need for resources rather than heavy signposting to move you through the environment.

Was nobody else bothered by all the motherfucker bombs being dropped in the preview?

It just strikes me as incredibly lame.

Its also a bit like making the next indianna jones film an 18. Why limit your mass appeal so?
To be fair, in that situation, I'd probably swear a lot.

I think it's mental a lot, like you hear someone dropping F bombs, C bombs etc, it adds more to what you're saying, it has more impact. Something that fits well in post apocalypse survival.

One of the last things you'd hear is Joel(is his name?) yelling out; "Maybe we can sit down and sort our differences out with a nice cup of tea and biscuits!", maybe you'd be happy then? :-P
Sorry, but I don't agree. Nathan Drake managed it just fine. The impact is all in the set piece and the weight of the actions. I felt just as much of a badass playing Saboteur on the speccy as I do controlling some tourettes freak in a game like Kane and Lynch.

Given the setting and the circumstances you would expect people to be swearing out of sheer frustration. The characters are there to connect you to the world and they need to be able to express how they feel in each situation and that might include some mild language.

No doubt character development will be vital to the game given Ellie's advanced AI and how she interacts with Joel and the environment.

Difference being Nathan Drake wasn't in post apocalyptica survival.

To be fair, I can see how it won't be needed in most cases, nobody wants Resevior Dogs or Casino in every game they play, but in that setting, in those circumstances, F bombs are welcome for me, because it's exactly how I'd behave and it allows me to form a closer connection to the lead character.

That's not to say the game would be a lesser experience without the language, the core gameplay is the main attraction, as it should be, but what it does add is something in the character that's in a large percentage of the player base.

Note sure if mentioned in this thread but the gameplay mentioned in video on CVG/PSM points to alternative ways through an area though overall it's linear; a positive move imho.

@jonsaan Swearing adds to the tone if used effectively. Certainly in the gameplay I've seen so far, none of the swearing has been unnecessary or over-the-top.

Obviously there's a point at which it just becomes swearing for the sake of it, but as this isn't a military/space FPS, and it's Naughty Dog, I don't see that being an issue.

I've seen all the media there is to see of this now, and to be perfectly honest...

    ... meh.

I've seen it all before. Enslaved looked more exciting and interesting if I'm honest.

Because you've started a bunch of those moany threads about the direction of gaming, and this is pretty much the amalgamation of everything that's annoying.

Except I haven't. I posted one very critical thread concerning Microsoft last week... and that's about it, unless you want to go back a couple of years when I probably said the same things about MS.

Think you're getting me mixed up with someone else.

The setting, the vibe, the tone, the gameplay of The Last of Us just doesn't excite mas much as it does others but I'm sure it'll be a fine game regardless. I just prefer the style of other similar games and I've had my fill of survival/shooting games.

One of my team was at E3 and saw the 30 minute behind-closed-doors presentation that the released 6 minute gameplay video was taken from. He said that the BCD looked at all the different ways you could handle the situations, and the level was obviously much longer. Sounds pretty funky.

It'll be interesting how close the characters will act in regards to the possible reality psychological changes in a TEOTWAWNI event.

So I know that it's being billed as a zombie game but it doesn't appear to be that way to me. Is it more along the lines that the disease makes you angry?

I think you spend more time dealing with bandits than mushroom men. I kinda forgot they were supposed to be in it tbh.

If the relationship between Joel and Ellie is any where near as good as Lee and Clementines than I'm looking forward to it.

Also I'm glad that the cordecyps infected people are taking a back seat. Looking forward to the story trailer tomorrow.

    @DUFFMAN5 - it is.

@Blacksea - going by the lastest PS4 rumours, PS3 BC is a virtual impossibility, unless you're happy with a Gaikai solution that is...
