Registered 17 years agoI've heard pretty good things from a few people I know playing it. It's just the fact that I know it's going to be free next year that I find difficult to stomach. It feels deceptive.
Gigantic, as a comparison, is F2P on launch but offers upgrade packs. That I'm fine with, it's nice and transparent. -

Registered 14 years agoI think they will keep it paid access until it struggles and then become ftp -

Registered 15 years agoNeeds to be clear that you're not even paying for the full version of the final game too. It's early access.
I guess epic need to keep their shareholders happy somehow. -

Registered 14 years agoI done the first few missions and had some good fun with It. The shooting feels good and you can also equip a sword and get tore in aswell. Building controls work fine on ps4 although its easy to build the wrong thing if your not paying attention. There is a whole load of systems here like massive skill trees etc so there is plenty to do. -

Registered 16 years agoSo if you register your console version to a epic launcher account on pc and have each other as friends it can be cross platform, Pc player joins console friends hosted game so limitied to ps4 or xbox but better than fuck all.
Looking forward to it being free. -
I've watched a couple of vids and streams recently and I'm in two minds about this game. By the looks of it the mechanics could either be in the 'whole is more than the sum of its parts' category or the 'jack of all trades, master of none' camp.
I can't help but feel it looks very grindy either way :/
Also, what's it like for someone who doesn't have gamer friends? Is there solid matchmaking à la Overwatch? -

Registered 16 years agoSo it's 'early access' but has a full price physical release?
I feel like it's getting out of hand now and the line has been crossed. I support the idea of smaller indie studios pushing out a title as early access for a smaller price in order to keep the team afloat while they continue to polish it, but Epic are taking the piss and abusing it.
If you are a major AAA publisher and your game's not finished, don't fucking sell it. Especially if you're asking full whack for a game that's going to be f2p, and is already laden with MTs.

Registered 12 years agoThis seems one of the worst cases of early access tbh. Charging to essentially test a game, that's going to be F2P. I don't even mind early access in theory, and there's some good examples of it, but can't help but feel the world would be a better place if it didn't exist.
I mean selling boxed copies of an unfinished game just seems really off. -

completely agree with this, but have seen comments from its defenders saying "if you don't like it, don't fucking buy it!!!1111" Shit bags who use that defence are the ones that allows this sort of thing to happen. If its successful other companies will copy it (This is why games from major AAA publisher have shitty micro-transactions in)

Registered 11 years agoAnyone going to try the battle mode on this? Looks interesting even though it's a rip off of PUBG -

Registered 6 years agoI haven't played PUBG. However I have tried a bit of Fortnite last night and it appears well made and it works fine. Which from what I hear is a step above battlegrounds which is clearly shonky. The art style is of course personal opinion but I think it works.
It even has a limited crafting system, you can build walls and effectively build your own cover. Which leads to some fun moments as you repair a house you are hiding in. Given its free job do recommend trying it. Would be intrigued to know how a full price game is any different, the gameplay is fundamentally simple. -

Registered 17 years ago@Sharz full price game is a different game entirely, it's PVE and you build your own fortress with traps etc against waves of enemies, totally not battle royale at all.
That said, I've been playing the Battle Royale mode since around 4 pm today and it's fucking fun! Really casual quick and easy have a blast fun! Couldn't recommend it more! PUBG is definitely more serious and realistic but this is just downright fun.

Registered 17 years agoHella fun! I'm super impressed, this will surge in popularity beyond PUBG I think because of the fact it's free and already released on all platforms.
That said, I really hope EPIC and Bluehole can settle their differences over it, I can definitely see Bluehole's point but it is a very different game (more casual, building aspect really changes it up) faster paced, less serious, definitely not an E-sport's game.
Also, I've just noticed, that guy I headshotted from DISTANCE was called NoBrainNoPain! haha

Came first on my 3rd game with a mate! This is a great change of pace to everything out at the mo on PS4, definitely suggest giving it a go!
