    I'm still not quick enough on the builds. Sometimes randomly placing a lot of stuff down confuses the hell out of your opponent and allows you to flank them.

    I tend to try and build walls and floors above those. It stops the shotgun folk from getting above you so easily.

    @DangerousDave_87

    My 8-year-old son absolutely adores the game, and I end up watching it a lot as a consequence, and that is the element I just can't wrap my head around. It seems like two different games patched together. The gun play seems loose, but it's entirely secondary to the idea of building to your advantage anyway. When he watches the top players going one-on-one at the end, it normally seems more about construction than shooting.

    @DangerousDave_87 try using the builer pro loadout. Takes a little getting used to but A puts you in build mode and then you use LT twice to ramp, RT twice to wall, RB twice for floor and LB twice for a roof. Makes it really quick.

    @Duffking That's the exact control scheme I use. I can't fault the controls. My brain just suffers meltdowns at critical moments. :D

    @David_Richardson It does happen quite frequently, but positing can rally help you in those situations. I tend to collect grenades to destroy player's towers and I try to find high ground where ever possible. If I don't have long ranged equipment I try to bunker myself into buildings, setting traps and adding more walls.

    Im by no means a building wizard. In fact I'm quite terrible, but I'm able to build myself out of some situations. I tend not to build often though, as it slays gives away your position when you're down to the last 10.

    I think I've won around 15 games so far on Switch, so building certainly isn't necessary to win and it doesn't guarantee a win against me, either! :D

    FWIW the motion controls feel like gash to me. Still only found them good in Splatoon and BotW.

    Just realised that Zelda is 30fps, too and motion controls work brilliantly in that. It can't be a frame rate thing then. Maybe it's something to do with the acceleration of movement? As if the cursor is able to hit top speed straight away? That's my guess.

    All I know is that it's jittery, even at a low, sluggish setting, which is something neither Zelda or Splatoon suffer from.

    Well in BotW there's not really anything fast paced to do any shooting of so it's mostly fine. This is invariably more twitchy.

    I've kept it turned on, but dialled the settings back to 0.20 for now. I still think general performance impacts the motion a lot. It's very hard to use in a 50v50 game, for example.

    Hopefully they continue to patch and improve on it. They've been great with patching the game generally and I didn't think they'd even bother with gyro controls at all.

    Happy to team up with players on this. Got into it the last few weeks. I'm pants but managed to get a couple of wins . I play on Xbox and switch. Can someone explain the different colour weapons. I take it orange and purple are best? Would say an orange smg be better than a green shot gun?

    @mangojoe It terms of which weapons are better than others, it all comes down to the situation and the distance between you and your opponent. I prefer the SMGs to shotguns, but a shotgun up close will beat most other weapons, regardless of its colour.

    I've tried this game a few times and it hasn't click. I spend most of my time searching for items for about 15 minutes and die as soon as I encounter someone

    It does get good when you get into it. Do some of the challenges etc. I've sent you a friend invite to make you even worse.

    @Jono62 Yeah, it took me a while to get into it when I still had it on PS4. Try the 50 v 50 mode until you're more confident with the combat. Almost half the map becomes a safe zone, so you're free to familiarise yourself with the controls, the weapons, the building and where you're likely to find good item drops.

    Given the nature of the main game modes though, you're going to lose far more often than you win. I tend to go for items very early on, but after the first storm has shrunk my objective is to stay alive for as long as possible. I'll hide a lot and carefully consider my route to the next safe zone.

    It's not uncommon I'll spot someone and let them get away, just so I don't reveal my location and have an idea as to where someone else is going to be come the end-game. I can make the final 10 most games and I've been runner up just as often as I've won.

    @Jono62 start dropping into more active areas to practice shooting people might help. Will help you learn to drop quicker as well. As a rule you want to get your glider open roughly 1.5 grid squares away from where you're landing, and before anyone else does so you get down first.

    I told myself I'd stop playing tonight once I'd won a solo game. It only took 3 hours! :o

    Had a game this evening in which I got a headshot with a green sniper rifle (the non- scope one), doing 225 damage and the player didn't die. Not only this, but I followed it up with about 6 or 7 hits with a people Minigun, totalling over 100 damage and still the player was alive. When they finally twig where I'm coming from they down me with 2 hits on an assault rifle.

    Not sure if that's flat out cheating or lag, but reported it anyway. The player seemed to have no idea what was happening for a long time and the numbers appearing by his head add up to just shy of 350 damage.

    @H1ggyLTD I think that's meant to be the case. There is a Q&A section on the Fortnite website that clarifies the issue. Would be great if someone here could confirm that, though.

    To change the subject, I think the silent pistol has become my new favourite weapon. At least if I can get a purple or orange one. Won a game yesterday in which 6 of my 7 kills were with one. Its awesome!

    @H1ggyLTD Hope this helps.

    QIf I play Fortnite Battle Royale on Switch, do I still have access to all my items and will my progress count across PC, Mac, Xbox and Mobile?

    AYes. As long as you’ve linked your Switch account to your Epic Games account, all purchased content is present and all progress is recorded across Xbox, Switch, PC, Mac, and Mobile.

    Completed all the Battle Pass weekly challenges. Fuck me those 3 grenade kills took about 20 games of quick landing and foraging for nades and attempting to kill ppl with them. What a pain.

    @H1ggyLTD Just note that PvE is never coming to Switch. You'll get to keep any cross over gear, but you won't be able to play that mode. :(

    This is practically unplayable on Switch for me right now. I get a massive lag spike and teleport about 10 meters every time I touch down and the frame rate drops to about 3 as soon as I start shooting at someone.
