Yeah I never got Seinfeld either. I'm guessing the Friends set sold A LOT though.![]() Unless they change the Home Alone house considerably it looks like "my first MOC" - basic building techniques, too much symmetry, boring colours and just boring in general. |

Registered 16 years agoOther than the typewriter, which looks.... Alright... The other two are dull and in the case of the home alone house, bloody horrible looking.
Winter chalet looked great. Queen build looked brill as well for what it was.
I got the Lego Friends set for my birthday today, funnily enough. -

Registered 14 years agoI'm actually relieved I don't want any of them. I was going to say it will give my wallet a rest but I've still got Pirates of Barracuda bay, the Batmobile, the Bookshop, the Lunar Lander and the Space station on my wishlist. -

Registered 18 years agoJust finished (and really enjoyed) the Stranger Things set. Love the upside down section. Could use the same techniques for something reflected in water.
Jurassic Park or the Treehouse next. -

Stage 1 was 7 bags in total and took a couple of evenings.
It's already looking pretty big -

Registered 17 years agoIt's a lovely looking set. I think it looks awesome how you control it from the phone or tablet, my only concern is in years to come you can't really just dig it out the attic one day and put it together as the app control will probably not be supported or some shit.
Obsolescence in Lego - makes me sad. -

Registered 17 years agoMy ten year old got the Bugatti Chiron for his birthday and I've been helping him with parts of it.
Pretty impressive build. I've Zero interest in super cars myself, but having assembled the paddle gear shift made me wonder what features they're trying to capture. So I've found myself downloading official LEGO Technic podcast episodes for this build. -

Registered 17 years agoJust finished building 42099, the Technic 4x4 X-Treme Off-Roader. Fun build, not too repetitive, took maybe 5 hours overall. Wishbone suspension all round, and a turntable mounted in the middle of the chassis so if it drives over something large and say one of the front wheels comes off the ground, the rear wheels stay flat.
Uses an app on your phone to act as a bluetooth controller and I've been having fun careering round the living room driving over books and boxes.
It's my first remote-controlled Technic set, and I have to say it's the mutts nuts! -

Registered 17 years agoThat one looks brilliant too and I do like the idea of the remote app control.
I think the newly announced Volvo truck loader thing will have the app support as well which is tempting -

The APK file is the 'app' in android. Even if Lego 'pull it' from the store now, having that file will let you install it onto an Android device and still use it.

As someone who's finished this, the thought of a 10 year old tackling it worries me.

It's a very large and complex set, really not sure a 10 year old would enjoy this! -

Registered 17 years agoHe loved it for the first two days. Built the gearbox and engine all by himself. Then he got impatient and let me step in.
But it is a best. We're taking turns at the moment, making slow and steady progress. -

42099 should be £199.99. John Lewis have it at £139.99 at the moment. I'd say it's well worth it at that price.

I still have the rough terrain crane sitting unopened in the attic. I paid 120 for that so would want to get the off roader cheaper if I could. -
