| My GF's parents were going through their loft about 8 years ago and found her OG 80s pirate ship set. They asked her if she still wanted it and inadvertently kickstarted a very expensive hobby! |

Registered 18 years agoYeah - even 10 years ago (found an old Indy set I was given), they are much more basic. -

Registered 17 years agoThere is a definite art to writing them. You could do a whole study into it - they impart so much info very succinctly its amazing. -

Registered 17 years agoThey did help to build an awareness of looking carefully at instructions. Between Lego and making tank or plane models as a yoof it is no wonder I really enjoy technical drawing now. -

Bit underwhelming at first glance, but I think it's growing on me. -

Registered 14 years ago@boo Yeah I thought it was a bit underwhelming too. If you take the police sign away it could be any building. It just looks like a generic apartment block. -

Registered 18 years agoI've put my two Lego Christmas sets up. Santa's workshop and the toy store. My wife put some cotton around then and I arranged them so there's a little bit of a story going on.
Looks great and cozy. Really looking forward to when we'll put the Chinese New year sets in the same spot. Well, it's just the one set so far but I'm going to ask for the one that's coming out on Jan 10 as a birthday gift. -

Registered 17 years agoI've just put my Slave 1 UCS up for sales on the Bay.
Awesome set to build but I just don't have the space to display it.
Will hopefully give someone a nice Xmas who missed it first time around. -

Each brick new to the build is outlined in thick red in every step of the instructions. -

Registered 18 years agoMy 5 year old son is finally taking an interest in Lego (after largely ignoring the Duplo sets I kept foisting on him).
Any recommendations for general Lego storage for kids? I'd forgotten how small some of the pieces are - damn flower heads everywhere! -

Registered 17 years ago@Trowel I use the little storage boxes you can get from Ikea to keep sets as we build them. They have a few compartments and are deep enough for sub-assemblies if that's what's getting built too.
https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/glis-box-with-lid-transparent-00283103/
they stack well, the lid comes right off and they are cheap enough you can have loads.
Go on treat yourself, it's Christmas! -

Registered 18 years ago@Nexus_6 Cheers, those look the job. Read up on the official storage boxes and seems they all have internal design flaws where small pieces get stuck - no way I'm putting myself through that! -

Registered 18 years agoDid anyone grab the Lambo over Black Friday? It went down to £189 at Costco and £199 at Amazon. Maybe they should have released the set at nearer that price to start with. -

How the fuck do you people put these things together? -

Registered 18 years agoCongratulations! Looks like an awseome set. Sounds like you haven't been building LEGO for a while... be very carful. This might become expensive. -

Registered 16 years agoNo, the last thing I built was a Lego elves dragon with the girl. Not really a big fan of Lego, which is why it was such a surprise when I unwrapped it. I am a massive ghostbusters fan, though and it looks like it will be amazing when it’s built.
Just got completely overwhelmed when I opened the box. It just looks insurmountable. -

Measure the dimensions of the box, then post on here. Someone will have the set and we'll be able to figure out what your present is.

Registered 18 years agoI'm having to clear the corner table that I use for displaying sets, in the name of Christmas. I've dismantled the remote control 4x4 Technic truck and I'm now half way through taking the big green Lambo apart.

@Flying_Pig This came up on my YouTube “Recommended” earlier, but I’ve not watched it yet.
Looks impressive! Do you know if the YT video would be suitable for our eight year old to watch?
Cheers
