@ZuluHero it's almost as if all entire bag is gone. Hope not because I caught this early on step 2.

Or maybe the machine that spat out this party got jammed.

What happens when your Lego comes missing pieces, do they send a forensic team to your house within 4 hours of reporting the issue

@elstoof They find out the batch number and work out who was the floor manager when that set came off the line. They are then exiled to the remotest part of Denmark for the rest of their lives. Usually that's not even necessary as they throw themselves on their own sword that very day.

Do they have to build their own sword from the missing pieces first

Sure it’s not just a case of having two ‘bag 2’s or similar? Have you actually looked in the box?

Embarrassingly I did that with 1 of my boys Lego minecraft sets. Only caught it as I was counting up all bits missing in that step to bang on on the website....

The set I just made had two 1 bags and two 2 bags

It had three or four 2 bags. I went through that issue when my son built the Bugatti Chiron and there were lots of pieces missing. Found the second 1 bag.

Double checked the box for missed bags this time and sadly none were found.

Part off me is really curious to see how Lego will handle this.

I’ve just started building the James Bond Aston Martin that my mate bought me for my birthday.

First Lego I’ve built in decades

Is it normal to have pieces leftover?
Is it some kind of Scandinavian mind trick?

    @X201
Yeah, very normal. Even had a few extras with tiny sets like the ones they throw in the bag as a freebie.

It definitely seems a bit suspect. You'd think their sorting mechanisms would be top notch, but they're throwing away millions of pieces.

I like the extra pieces - they can come in handy for spares or custom builds.

Had a few sets with missing pieces which is annoying. Trying to rummage around the spare Lego box for them.. I know you can contact Lego but seems like a faff when you just want it completed.

@X201 There's always a handful of small pieces like 1x1 tiles etc left over. Something to do with the tolerances in the weighing machines I think. Any larger pieces and you probably should probably start looking back through the instruction book.

    OK, thanks.
They’re all small pieces, largest is a thin three simple strip

How can they be making any money on these £100 boxes of 10p plastic with that level of waste

I got a quiz question last week about "the biggest tire manufacturer in the world" and the answer was Lego and I rage quit Zoom and pretended my internet was broken

Biggest by what metric though, they manufacture the “most tyres” but I’m sure Dunlop makes more money off theirs

5 bags into barracuda bay! It’s such an amazing set, so many little details. I just want to keep building it all day but I’ll be sad when it’s finished so forcing myself to take a break

    Ecto-1 finished \o/

The completed model looks superb and they used some really clever techniques to get the shape just right - making for a really fun build.

Don't forget about the lego gamming series' that really are the staple of the lego brand. those colorful blocks would be nothing without indie and batman.

I’m starting to regret buying barracuda Bay for my 7 year old.

It took us all day to make together, which was a lot of fun, and it’s a great looking set, but it’s very fragile. He’s played with it a lot but it’s slowly starting to break apart which is a bit frustrating to watch.

In hindsight he is probably a bit young for such a big set.

I’m having a bit of a tidy up and found my hobbit house. Not really my thing to display these days so I think I’ll sell it. I assume it’s eBay or list it on some Lego specific sites...
