Registered 15 years agoThe new R2-D2 looks better than the previous one IMHO. The old one is too blocky, this one looks a lot smoother. Still not completely sold on the shape of the dome though. -

For me I want it to look somewhat like Lego but also like the real thing. If I wanted an actual replica of a helmet or R2-D2.. then I'd buy a replica.

I should have added IMO or similar after such an incendiary statement!
Its a fine balance between looking like Lego and looking like the object. For me, the helmets just don't get there. They are worse than when a vehicle or similar doesn't manage it because they are so round and shiny.
I love the new probe droid for example - that nails it. No more shitting on Lego for me. -

Registered 20 years agoVery tempted by R2-D2 but I’ve only just bought myself the Space Shuttle set and I fear my wife would actually disown me if I dropped another £180 on Lego.
It’s definitely on the wish list though. -
