I've been addicted to Titan Quest: Immortal Throne over the last 12 months and have now reached 100 hours + on it (Started my fifth character yesterday)! This actually got me thinking which games in my lifetime i've reached this rather geeky statistic:

Chrono Trigger - countless replays from start to end (Not even in new game+ mode) and going back to previous saves to see the various endings!

Soul Calibur 2 - arcade and home. When I was still living/studying in London the arcade scene was fairly healthy and ran into a bunch of Soul Calibur players at Namco Station who proceeded to wipe the floor with me but I learned the hard way how to play properly. You don't even want to know how many quid coins went into the SC2 machine!

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 - as above, arcade and home! Discovered a MvC2 machine in the goodge street arcade, played. Guy comes over: "NO! NO! NO! THIS IS HOW YOU PLAY SPIDERMAN!" Countless months and coins lost here as well.

CoD4: Modern Warfare - So many hours lost to multiplayer/singleplayer/arcade mode. 0-55 at least 5 times, I loved it that much. In addition, us PC gamers had access to hardcore across ALL the game modes! :D Then there were the countless free maps, mods, gun game....oh lawd...

Outrun 2 SP - Sweet Jesus. Trocadero. If you came during the PM on weekends there were comfortably 20 guys all waiting to have turns at this (One night turned into a 3 hour winner stays on marathon between 20-30 of us). Hugely competitive and incredible fun. Manual gear of course. ;)

Super Robot Wars/Taisen: Original Generation 1&2 (GBA) - I refuse to divulge how many new game+ replays I have on these two games. Its just...embarassing.

Final Fantasy 6 and 8 - My two favourite FF games. Six mainly because of the characters and story and Kefka! Plus the GBA version had an excellent translation and two extra ultra hard dungeons. Played through the SNES version at least twice and the GBA one at least 5-6 times now (On another playthrough atm as well). FF8 is very love/hate but I adore the junction system and triple triad! It allowed for some glorious tinkering! I also picked up the PC version because of these guys - - yes, that is triple triad, stand alone! Plus they managed to mod the game to allow the CD/orchestral versions to replace a fair number of the ingame midis!

Jedi Knight 2/Outcast - Don't even ask. Finally a decent lightsabre combat system. Then there was instagib mod + ctf + force jump = - now imagine 10-15 people in the game with an instagib laser and similar movements. Utter chaos.

DotA - Started with the original version in normal warcraft 3 (2003 I think). Continued with Frozen Throne. Still haven't stopped playing although playing it rarely these days because of the next game. I'm willing to bet i've put in several thousand hours (Maybe even 10000+) worth of gaming in DotA alone.

Heroes of Newerth (HoN) - Two years now. Since closed beta. Sort of DotA 1.5 but better in most ways and crucially, retained the addictive as fuck nature of DotA. Similarly, I pushed past 2000+ hours here long ago.

Enemy Territory - Akimbo pistols + medic class = IMMORTAL! :D Remains to this day one of the best balanced class based FPS games with exquisite map design to boot. And it was free! Plus it introduced the XP system so beloved of every FPS today since CoD4.

Seiken Densetsu 3 - Japan only Secret of Mana sequel/prequel. One of the games responsible for the massive boom in emulation during the early '00s. Stupidly popular game which got fan patched/translated. Cue millions of downloads. Six characters, you control three like in SoM, each capable of 4 classes = immeasurable replay value. Three story paths depending on who your main character was.

Guild Wars - 18 months. Pure crack.

And err, Titan Quest: Immortal Throne - I don't see myself stopping anytime soon. ;)

Edit: The Fire Emblem and Advance Wars series. Kudos to redcrayon for reminding me.

    Never again. Never again.

I also played the first Soul Calibur rather a lot. Not sure exactly how much time, though.

    Likely only World of Warcraft.

I can't play non MMOs to that sort of extent. I need variety.

Final Fantasy VII, IX, X, XII. Around 90 hours playing FFX-2.
Must have come close to the 100 hour mark in Football Manager 2005 too.

WoW, actual months of in-game time over 2 and a half years. On some of my days off i'd get up at 10 in the morning, log-in and not log off till 3 in the morning the next day. Can't stand the game now :D

Had a 180 hour Oblivion file as well. Loved every minute.

Fallout 3, Borderlands, probably Forza 3, probably GTA IV, and of course Skyrim. I clocked 100 hours on Skyrim in a month, though, which is pretty staggering considering I have a job and a family.

    Football Manager
Counter Strike from beta to Source
    Team Fortress Classic/2
    Left 4 Dead
    Smash Bros Melee
    Mario Kart (Snes, 64, Wii)
    Unreal Tournament
    Battlefield 1942/Vietnam
Wii Sports, spent ages on that at Uni when it first came out.
Half Life 2 is probably the single player game I have replayed the most times.

Fallout 3 & Fallout:New Vegas, both well over 100 hrs. 150 or so with FO 3. All DLC done. FO:Nv didn't quite gel so well with me, so I avoided the DLC for that, but still put in over 100 hours. They are scary time vacuums for me, hence why I have held of getting Skyrim so far....

CoD 4:MW got an obscene amount of multiplayer played.

Gears 1,2 & 3 have all got massive amounts of play too. I probably haven't put that much time into 3 yet, but I certainly will.

    Edit: I should also add

Doom (time spent over PC, PS1 & XBLA) 100 hours on PC alone I'd guess!

Skimming my PS3 games, only 2 of them have the dubious honour - Super Street Fighter 4 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2, although i'd say Wipeout HD/Fury is pretty close to that.

From previous gens, FF VII, Wipeout 2097, Street Fighter 2, Super Mario 3/World/Kart, Street of Rage 2, ISS Pro, 98, Pro Evo 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and NHLPA 93.

Any of the Advance Wars, Fire Emblem and Etrian Odyssey games, along with Clash of Heroes.

Also Monster Hunter Tri and Skyrim.

In my younger days, I definitely clocked up hundreds of hours on LTTP, Super Probotector, Megaman X and Streets of Rage 2. But then I didn't have quite so much choice, combined with far more free time.

Heh, forgot Fire Emblem too. Also La Pucelle (as a break from Disgaea). Nowadays I'm in the family+job+house brigade so my main gaming time is 10pm or later while having to be conscious for work. Would love to have been with Skyrim but there are just too many other games to play (and you can play 5+ of them for the time I'd invest in Skyrim or Xenoblade right now).

    Magic Carpet
Quake 3 (office lunchtime game for ages)
Medal of Honour: Allied Assault (office lunch timegame for ages)
Call of Duty 1 (office lunch timegame for ages)
Left 4 Dead 2 (office lunch timegame for ages and still is)

Skyrim's probably going to head that way but other than that I don't have the time/inclination to spend that much time on one game usually. Too much of a neophile - need next new shiny thing to play on!
  • Deleted user 20 December 2011 15:20:44
Oh wow. i forgot GTA San Andreas! Countless playthoughs and time spent getting homies to follow me to a helicopter, Fly to top altitude and bail out listening to the screams of my homies as they fell to their doom whilst gliding to earth with my parachute!
