This has probably already been done to death a million times but fook it:

For me it has to be the first encounter with Bowser on Mario 64 on the Nintendo 64. When I finally realised I had to grab his tail and rotate the joypad to swing him round, for some reason just stands out more than any other gaming memory. Class.

Walking out of the crashed ship in Unreal and seeing the landscape and the waterfall for the first time.

/remembers Voodoo1 card with fondness

To put that into context, Unreal was the first game to really use the Glide stuff. My 3d card didn't get *that* much of a workout with QuakeGL...let's be honest. Some lighting around the projectiles and funky water.

Aaaaaaaaaaaanyhow. Yeah. Unreal. Woo! Used the card to stunning effect.

1)The Aeris thing

Made all the better by Uematsu's music and the way they got the first note to play the *split-second* the holy materia bounced ^_^

2)One winged Angel

3)The end of the final custscene as The lifestream appears and the final shot of Aeris mirroring the opening sequence

And the bit where liquid smashes him against the wall. Classest thing ev4r!!
Then again, the Psycho Mantis and the Ninja battles in Metal geat were both really good.

As was unleashing Omnishalsh in FFVII for the first time.
